Hey guys, as the title suggests I'm looking for a sv for my girlfriend. Just wondering if anyone has come across any good deals lately?
We're looking at buying on 0% finance, with the smallest desposit possible
Colours can be either blue or silver, and has to be fully faired
The best I've found is:
//search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/bikes/SUZUKI+SV/Ne-2-4-7-
8-27-64-104-133-146-236,N-239-4294967165-

make=SUZUKI&model=SV&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=&vehicleYear
OfManufacture=2008&vehicleRegLetter=
I've spoken to the chap and he said there's no movement on the price with the finance deal, what do you guys recommend?

On 0% finance deals there probably won't be much haggling on price however you may be able to get a few extras chucked in to sweeten the deal as it were.

Save yourself a couple of thousand and buy second hand. In fact... I know of a great Silvery-Blue one for sale at a good price ;)

thanks for the plug:mrgreen: - unfortunately it's almost certainly going to be sold this sunday when the buyer comes to collect
but i'd still echo the sentiments of buying a slightly used bike over a new one*
*yes, i am aware that i'm buying a new 675, but this is only because the new prices were within spitting distance of bikes a year old;)

if you can get finance, surely you can get a loan or if your clever a 0% credit card, thats what i did (the loan), go on money supermarket and have a look usually works out cheaper than finance.
Mind you the price you said is about what they are new anyway i think.

true, but it was a plate younger, with lowers, seal cowl, HIDs, hugger, only one third the mileage and, judging by the pictures, it's a helluva lot cleaner:p
i said for folks to make offers on a standard bike, someone made a sensible offer and combined with selling the parts the buyer doesn't want separately i'll make my asking price and he'll get a bargain, something in the order of £2k off list price...;)

a zero post member here, contacted by PM, i'll encourage him to start posting once he gets riding
i advertised both the DRZ and the SV on here and pistonheads free ads only, had a bunch of hits for the DRZ on both sites, not a bite for the SV from PH though, in the end the DRZ is going to a guy on the island who saw the PH ad, he's coming on saturday to confirm the purchase, so with luck by monday i'll be 5.5k richer and with an less cluttered garage awaiting picking up the new 675 during the week or following weekend

I bought mine new 18 months ago, it was £4,000, restricted, with a scottoiler fitted and something else they threw in.
Haven't been looking at prices but if suzuki are still doing the 0% I reckon you could get cheaper. Worth a morning phoning round maybe, I travelled 100 miles for mine cos it was £400 cheaper than I could get nearby.

dealers won't have the same leeway with pricing that they did because of the GBP going through the floor compared to the yen, it costs suzuki much more to import a bike to the UK than it did a year ago and although they're trying to suck up the loss it's a lot of money, money that will get passed onto dealers and in turn on to customers, price tags on new SV Sports in my local dealer are now at £5149

on the plus side the rise in new prices means the used market (at least according to my local) is remaining bouyant - they were even offering to buy my bike for cash (book price for a standard bike though) to get it in their 2nd hand lineup
i think the bargains are going to be dealers' used stock tbh, but remember they know new prices are high enough to scare off buyers and they probably won't have problems shifting nearly new bikes...

Also suzuki aren't offering 0% at the moment, it's only certain dealers who offer it hence the lack of movement from them.
I don't fancy getting a loan as I don't want interest payments, and credit cards are a hassle constantly shifting the funds to new accounts, much easier to just get 0% finance

That's what I thought too. But then again, you have to take the depreciation hit :(
I bought mine on 0% finance, and got a new bike. 3 years on I wouldn't do the same again because the depreciation has been horrendous.
I'd get a personal loan and pay ?? 7% interest, but buy a 2 year old bike for £2000 less - which will more than cover the interest payments, and will be further down the depreciation curve.
0% is false economy on a full price bike which will be a heavily depreciating asset.

I've just bought a blue K9 SV650S from a Suzuki dealer in Ayrshire (pick the bike up on Sat woo hoo). The bike is advertised as £4700 OTR price. Put down £1000 (I think the minimum deposit was £195) and works out monthly i'm paying £80.25 for 3 years. After that period I can either pay £1700 to own it outright or trade the bike in for a new model. If i stay within the 6k miles per year i'll get a gaurenteed trade in value of £2200.
Its only a good deal if your intending to change over 2 - 3 years but it works for me.

So
£1000 deposit +
80.25 x 36 months
= £3890
And after three years you need to pay £1700 to own it, so effectively you'll be paying £5590?!

After looking at the depreciation on the new SVs, I had a quick look on 2nd hand deals, and found a 2007 2kmiles fully faired for £3300. At 6.25% finance makes it £3900. What do you guys reckon, yay or nay?

I have to confess I'm a little confused here, people have recommended against buying a new bike but then 3900 for a 2007 bike is seen as a good deal? I bought my SV brand new for 4k which included breakdown cover and its first service as well as tax, a tank of fuel and no MOTs needed for a while yet. The only other SV that's I've seen near here is 3,700 for an 07 bike - to me 300 pounds to get the bike of my choice as well as a few other bits and pieces is well worth it.

My girlfriend and I will be graduating from uni in June and we have jobs lined up on 3 year contracts so hopefully (touch wood) we'll be fine

I suppose when they are so cheap to start with you may as well buy new... I was comparing with a £5.5k price when i bought 3 years ago.
I still wouldn't buy another bike new though... e.g. a GSX-R 750 or Superduke which still have an asking price >£8k-ish. (think the SD is >£9k for 2009 which is insane).
TBH I'd take the 1600 deposit and buy second hand ... but that's me.

or wait and save a little more to get a good bike for 2-3k
