3 ways to get to Aberdeen? The only one for a bike is Blairgowrie - Ballater surely? One of the best roads in the country.

Sally
25-02-09, 10:09 PM
Possible ways..
Google maps only shows cars or walking...

But would have to agree, Up the middle of the Grampian Mountains, not really a choice there..

Coupar Angus, Blairgowrie way for for me as the roads are great.

Maybe I could talk to my sister again (big maybe!) in Cruden Bay and check in with that idea? Be nice to see my old stomping ground again, from a riders perspective! Gotta go to Zanre's in either the Broch or Mintlaw tho!

Ah Zanre's, the light of the north east.
If your going to Cruden Bay you may pass a house being built in between Peterhead and Cruden bay, I can't offer coffee, or tea, or water for that matter but feel free to stop or just wave.

Looking at some roads and that..

Am going to push on and say May, then i need to see what else is happening in that month..

Are the guys from the central belt coming up and back in one day, or you guys fancy crashing for the night?

Looks like a meet at Braemar..

Tiger 55
24-03-09, 04:55 PM
Up and back in a day for me but I'm sure there'll be some crashers!

Sally
24-03-09, 06:46 PM
NEED OPINIONS AND THE LIKE..

Does anyone fancy crashing for the night, or is everyone going back down south/home?

Do you guys want to do a run around the area, or just to the ice cream and home?

If so, how long do you want to spend up here?

I have some possible runs in the mixer, just tweaking them.

Cheers, Saor.

If I had to pick, then #3 as it includes Grantown to Forres which I know is bike heaven. :riding:

Sally

All the roads are quite good, its just dependant on how long people are planning on staying..

How long from Edinburgh/Glasgow/Central Belt/Skye(:)) to get to Braemar?

haggis
25-03-09, 12:31 AM
Skye: 3hrs 30 with fuel stop in good weather. But we're planning on staying with mates or family in Forres/Banff either the night before or after ICR3 depending on work issues.

30 minutes to KG's house and then hang on to his tail lights for dear life, no coffee, call it 2:30 :)

4 Hours from Dfs to Braemar for me, ummmm... I could probably crash at a mates place in Glasgow/Edinburgh the night before so it's not that bad.

Highly unlikely that I'll be able to make a run in May, but I'll keep an eye on the dates and try my best!

i just want to ride the best roads.

Spittal and Lecht roads is a bloody good start though.

But its still dependant on date for me. So far its a Saturday in May? There are 5 weekends. I can't do the 23rd. Any other is fine. Set up a poll maybe?

It will be when it’s built.
Bought one back in June, then found loads of problems that were not picked up in the survey, was so bad council put a demolition order on it so we had to rebuild.
It’s been an interesting year:rolleyes:

For my own part, my backside will be in tatters enough without adding another 25 miles to get to South Queensferry!

Westies could meet you at Broxden Services outside Perth, where the A9 meets the M90, that's the most southerly common point.
