A rarity as im very close with my other half.

Shes off to Athens for 5 days, taking her mum (Xmas pressie). SO for the first time in 3 years, i've got the house to myself allllll week.

This means no longer chucking in a pizza for dinner the nights shes out. I've actually got to look after myself (will end up, curry, pizza, kebab etc  ).

But im thinking what else I could do? Maybe take the thurs n Friday off (mon - Fri afternoon) n go for a blat. Shoot to the Dam for a few days, or France by myself.

Its been so long I've forgotten how to be an individual

Throw some man-ish suggestions

That's so true it's not even funny!

I always look forward to time by myself, but always get given a list of crap to do. I have to admit, it usually doesn't get done while I have free time though. :)

:smt010......mind you I look forward to time on my own, by going away. I don't get out much at all, and seldom have time to myself, Im Indoors does his own thing frequently :-(
It was wonderful to get out on the Hardy rideout, but when i got back.....OMG I got home to chaos. I did surprise Im Indoors when I turned up early, I ended up doing a whole weekends housework in an hour, without even getting my bike gear off.

Lets just say he won't be getting caught out again ;-)

Going away for a night or two on the bike would be a great idea. As would simply relaxing, watching a load of footy / racing on the TV, etc.

When my Mrs goes away for a couple of days I usually get bladdered with my mates one night, stay in bed as long as I want the next and then get up and lie on the settee watching MotoGP re-runs.

my mrs is great, if she's going away she never leaves any jobs for me to do, lets me have the time to myself too.

wouldnt bother with the getting bladdered thing unless its combined with something else i.e horse racing or footy. you want to enjoy the spare time, not have the hangover from hell the next day which renders you useless...

First thing you need to do is get on the phone and book a cleaner to come on the last day for a couple of hours. That way you can do what the hell you want and not waste it doing all that cleaning rubbish.

Problem solved.

why dont you do something with some mates or just enjoy your own company and go for a ride and sightseeing?

Id certainly try and keep the house tidy at the very least :p

You could always come round and the the gearbox oil seals on my Volvo for me? No. Ok, thought id ask.

I always have a list of stuff that needs doing (For myself) when i get times like this. However, last weekend that i had spare, i spent it watching DVD's or round my Mum's taking her shopping etc.

 @ Vinney...... I need a sit down

My house is usually tidy, bar the mess the rabbits make.

Can't really go on the bladder as its a school night. Got to pick her up Friday afternoon, and doubtfull everyone will go out on a work night.

If it was the weekend i'd be fine. I'd kit up and entertain myself all weekend, but i've got to work so sucks ass (hence racing on TV n stuff).

Thats why im stuck, its the work nights :( And still too dark to go out for some fun.

I think the "ladies" in my local are so manly, i'd be better off hitting on the men for some femanine touches

Buy a huge stereo, drink heavily then play some of your old records....the things you used to play before meeting your lass.

Get the lads around for a playstation night with take away food.

Walk around naked without the earache

Take the duvet downstairs and get comfortable

Buy a 40 year old single malt and enjoy

enjoy talking to yourself...just dont drink so much you end up in a fight with yourself

do a full day check/repair of you bike and add some toys that you dont really need but you like

visit some far away friends that you have not seen in a few years

buy and build a model aeroplane....spitfire or lancaster....preferably with the single malt and get that proud to be british feeling

loads of loads of things you could do......just enjoy

Buy a huge stereo, drink heavily then play some of your old records....the things you used to play before meeting your lass. - Not really a drinker. Got a huge stereo ;) Regulary gets the old skool pumped through at volume.

Get the lads around for a playstation night with take away food. - Do it usually anyway

Walk around naked without the earache - Hmmmmmmm, naturist ;)

Take the duvet downstairs and get comfortable - Im not a women.

Buy a 40 year old single malt and enjoy - Wish I could but i cna't handle whiskeys too well, taste doesn't agree with me. Hold up, maybe I am a women, maybe I should get the blanket downstairs

enjoy talking to yourself...just dont drink so much you end up in a fight with yourself - I do this regulary anyway  Just not the fight with myself

do a full day check/repair of you bike and add some toys that you dont really need but you like - Bike gets a full checkup every week anyway as its used daily so washed weekly and checked over.

visit some far away friends that you have not seen in a few years - They all live in the local area. (im 27)

buy and build a model aeroplane....spitfire or lancaster....preferably with the single malt and get that proud to be british feeling - Got a full loft im building a model railway out off, so this will probably be the thing I do, just not exactly young and exciting, and I feel im getting old before my time

loads of loads of things you could do......just enjoy

Good suggestions so far.

refer to my earlier post. If you do this make sure you nurse the hangover AFTER cleaning away any evidence....or boy oh boy will you be in the dog house:smt042 oh and don't get caught under the duvet downstairs when she gets home, or admit you've just got out of bed at 1pm.

You sir, are a genius!

I shall remember that one!

EDITED (because I don't really want to derail the thread much): MYC, you're not that far from me... fancy earning a tenner next time I'm in the house alone (cleaning!!!)? :D

I believe that's called early motherhood Lou

Just do some activities that you normally wouldn't be able to do, make the most of it. Do you have a baba to look after, I can't remember...

Maybe so, but try to find the time to do anything when you work full time nights, run a house, sort out kids, etc etc. Your lucky to get a night out every three months. Which is why my next weekend away will be in June. :(
I'm lucky now that I have matt around, as before single parentdom was trying to say the least.
Its not like I have a nine to five job where I get to go to the pub at a weekend is it.
