One or two different songs, but you can't beat hearing Higland Cathedral being played by a pipeband!
There's been plenty, but the effect wears off and I can't recall many, I don't really have "favourites" of anything.
One moment that I'll never forget, though, is listening to "New York Minute" (unintentionally, just on a cd in a car) by Don Henley of The Eagles (written in '89) just a couple of days after 9/11. I'd heard it plenty of times before, and always quite liked it, but I really listened to it, some of the lyrics are just- it had a real effect on me. As horrific as the whole event had been, it hadn't really hit home till I heard that song.

When I was in the alps on the bike I stopped in a small peaceful town for lunch. The sun was pouring down, the scenery was beautiful, the food was brilliant. After the meal I walked back to my bike and in one of the flats above, that song was playing full volume and two kids were singing along to it. Made me smile. That song reminds me of that happy day
Nothing beats O' Flower of Scotland when you're at rugby/football, atmosphere is amazing..
Also, when you're ratted, cant beat it..
Also like Scotland the Brave, good pipes in there :)

Lots of songs, all the time. I love music! If I hear a song I like when I'm out and about, I get it on CD then play it on my system at home - that usually blows me away :D Having Virgin 'on demand' music is brilliant too cos so much music is available and I can play it through my hi-fi :cool:
Some recent music that gets me going;
The Killers - When you were Young
Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008 (just cos the sax sounds incredible!)
I was driving up the M6 on a Sunday morning a few weeks ago with a mate just as the sun broke over the horizon behind us. Snow Patrol's 'Crack the shutters' was just playing on the radio and that was pretty intense. It gives me shivers just thinking about it!
Lots of older music too;
Shania Twain's 'From this moment on' cos it was played at our wedding.
Keane's 'Bedshaped' cos it was on the radio in the hospital when I said goodbye to my Grandad.
Lots of music is linked to moments in my life and takes me back to those times.
Thanks for this thread - I'm going to spend most of this evening listening to beautiful music now :cool::D
Cheers,
Matt

Oh yeah, and The Last Post.
Years ago, when I was a squaddie, we used to go to the Beating of the Retreat every year. The Band of The Corps of Royal Engineers always there and would start proceedings with the Corps March, "Wings", then progress thru the programme before playing "Sunset" followed by a lone bugler playing The Last Post. Always very moving and atmospheric and guaranteed to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
