Hi All,

My first post. Just passed my test last week and took delivery of my SV650s yesterday. Hardly slept last night and I'm 45!!! It's a 2007 with a full fairing in blue and looks mint!

The only negative comment I really came across in the vast number of reviews I read was about the front forks so just one question;

Going to work today for the first time I got the odd 'bang' going through the many number of potholes on the way. Is it just a case of changing the fork oil?

Otherwise I was in Heaven. After 2 months on a CBR 125, I loved the feel, the sound and everything else. I'm gonna love this!!

Cheers

You'll find that SVs can just clonk. I've got 2 different set ups on my SVs, even swapped the headbearings on one of them.....and its still there. Just on one its slightly less than the other.

BTW hello and where you from?

I'm a 45 year old newbie too, and my suspension makes some very unfriendly noises if I'm still braking when I hit speed bumps. So my choices are brake earlier, or get my ar$e off the saddle and go faster over the bumps. One guess which I chose. ;)

Keith.

Hiya,

I don't think this bike is gonna have many negative points, so I'm happy to live with it. I think I may just go for another run out....

I'm from Knaresborough, just ouside Harrogate.

Suspension-wise there are many different options , the simplest being is a spring swap with a heavier weight oil , I am currently in chat with KAIS suspension in Atherton about taking my bike in for a front end overhaul and spring/oil change .

Welcome to the forum by the way :)

Hello and welcome mate. I'm fairly new myself, plenty helpful people around so don't be afraid to ask questions. What year is your bike?

Colin

Thanks everyone for the replies! I'll give it a couple of days and I'll probably have a load more questions!
Oh, is there any point in fitting a rear hugger? I quite fancied the idea but it looks quite well sealed under there as it is.

Guten tag & willkommen!

Yes fit a hugger, it'll stop a lot of carp getting in the wrong places

mainly all over your rear shock

first thing before that is.. a fender extender. Its a plastic jobbie that fits on the front mud guard. Its the most useful bit o kit. It'll stop the rain flinging off the road and into your front spark plug

Ok, a hugger it is.

AND i quite fancy a double bubble screen, for the looks if nothing else.

+1 on this, there's nothing more disconcerting than losing power on the front cylinder.
1. Fenda extenda

God's Country! I grew up in Harrogate and spent many a happy evening in The Crown in Knaresborough.

I'm taking the missus (and the SV) for a week in Malham in April to breath in a bit of sweet North Yorkshire air.
