View Full Version : Naming folders so that they are arranged by date

I have all the photo's from bike runs in separate folders with names like 04-06-06. But they don't go in order. Other than putting 1,2,3,4........etc at the start of each folder, is there a way to name them so that they are arranged properly? Organising them by date won't work

Write it the other way around - year first, as in today is 09-02-26, tomorrow would be 09-02-27, etc. That way they're in date order with no other numbers.

Or have I missed something obvious?

YY.MM.DD is the best way, as Squidmaster says. At work i use YYYYMMDD then a brief description.

Absolutely. Essential for filing/viewing things in chronological order.

That only works if you haven't been into the folder and added more pictures, or edited any of them.
