New member.
Just thought i'd share this with you.
Travelling through the north of Cambridge city centre, stopped at a red light.
Bike comes up from behind and stopped behind me, don't know what it was but was black, looked and sounded tastey .
Lights change to green and tastey bike hits the throttle n zooms past.
I decide i'll have some of that n hit the throttle too.
Reach the first bend and tastey is well infront, estimated speed 45-50 in a 30 MPH zone.
On the exit of the bend is a copper:plod: stood in the middle of the road with his arm up signaling "stop".
Tastey pulls to the side and copper points at me and then to his eyes to warn he's clocked me and will be looking out for me in the future.
I carry on down the road feeling like a total ****.
My point is, if you have spent your time and money to obtain your license don't waste it on trying to prove a worthless point.
Ride safe people.

At least you've learnt your lesson. It's 30 for a reason.

It's tough enough out there on the open road without looking for trouble with the law in town.
Most of us have done it. I got pulled a couple of years ago in Rugby for speeding after I tried to impress some kids waiting by the traffic lights. Dumb or what.
Luckily my advancing years saved me and he let me off with a slapped wrist.
Try to rein in your enthusiasm.

I have a rule, 30 in a 30, 40 in a 40 and NSL means No Speed Limit!! (I don't count 50's as they're only there to slow people down where there is no real need for it, if it's that dangerous, make it a 30 or a 40!)

Count yourself lucky he let you off. Learn from it and don't go thrashing down the road after bikes who have done the same thing..
As others have said, the speed limit is there for a reason.

I may be having a blonde moment but I dont get what you mean?
I agree with the general rule - 30's r 30's - NSL - at your own discretion!

What's the reason.......?
because if you hit a child at 30mph there's an 80% chance they'll live
if you hit them at 40mph there's an 80% chance they'll die...
of course if the stupid little tw*t knew not to run out into the road in the first place there's a 100% chance of avoiding the accident
