Alright Chaps and Chapesses?

I've got a pair of HEL braided hoses waiting to be fitted to my K5 naked, which currently has the standard bars.

My question is, would these HEL lines fit if I put Renthal bars on.

I'm not sure which Renthal bars atm - I keep looking at their website and there's jsut too much choice so feel free to suggest something.

I would have thought that if they are the Renthal low bars, you wont have an issue. I had Renthals on mine with all of the standard pipes & cables

How much higher are the low bars. I'm looking for something slightly higher and wider than standard.

i had renthals on my bike before my crash not sure which ones but they have a brace if that helps but my goodridge brake lines were very tight and so were my throttle cabels

Cheers Guys. I thought that might be the case.

Depends which renthals. There are some almost exactly the same as OEM shape, just not made of tissue paper. There are also 1001 other varieties.

Don't you have Renthals, Chris?

Yes, mine are "ultra lows" if I remember rightly, very strong bars which is nice. They don't bend in the tiniest of lowsides like the stock ones!

I will look at the number on them when I remember.

I'm looking for something slightly higher and wider, but the Renthal website is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard in telling me this and it reckons they don't do any to fit the SV

if they're lower and the lines would have fitted you standards you'll probably be a-okay.

Yeah they looked good. look a bit better than my stupidly wide ones.

Nice and chunkay too

What sort do you have on Dave?

I'm looking for more Streetfighter type bars

Anything apart from the ultra-lows and you are going to start having issues with fitment of the cables. With the aftermarket brake lines you may just find they are slightly longer than standard lines so could possibly get away with it. But the real issue is going to be your throttle cables and the control cables.

Hmmm... sounds like a fair bit of faffing about. Where would I get longer throttle and clutch cables?

I did think the braided lines were slightly longer than standard so I though I might get away with it

Look on my bent bana thread (sig) about page 6. What colour's your bike I have a few sets for sale. They're dead comfy, stronger and wider so you have more control...but don't look as good as the ultra lows. I didn't have to change any cables when I fitted them (already had braided lines fitted)

Dave, what colour is the bar in the top of the picture - it look chrome to me...

top is standard, below is renthals (annodised green), got em in blue, purple or red. Purple and red both look mint if they'll suit ya bike.

My bike's red. But I'm not really into the whole colour matching thing, but would you be kind enough to supply me with a picture?

I guess spraying them black would make them too thick to put all the controls on

I used green on my yellow bike, the contrast doesn't look bad (ideally wanted gold though). If you're going to spray them I have some second hand blue ones with holes already drilled for switchgears and cut down to size. I'll get pics of the others, purple might look good.

If I could spray the blue ones up without too much trouble then I think they would be the best bet.

How much you looking for mate?

**** just remembered the blue ones were drilled and cut for a bandit and I tried them on mine and it wasn't right, definitely far too short. sorry bout that.
You can have the new ones for £15 though red, purple or just plain ally.

I'll have a think and let you know.

Are the ally ones Renthals?

Dave20046

They're all the same as the green ones in that picture. Think they're unbranded. Doesn't say renthal on them anywhere.

Ahh I see.

I got confused c'cos it mentioned they were Bandit ones or something.

The blue ones were slightly different but they were second hand and had been cut down to fit a bandit's switchgears etc. (but badly)
Brand new off the shelf they fit both the SV and the bandit (and probably loads of other bikes. fit my curvy fine.

Get some drag bars fitted. Low as you like but the slack is taken up by how bloody wide they are! lol
