Just thought I'd show it off. Hoping to get out on it in the summer once the weather is better and I've finished my weekend job at my local Morrisons! Sorry about the sizes.

Looks very clean and shiny.
Sure you are going to have a lot of fun on that.:)
The front don't half look funny with one disc though.
Is there any chance you can lose that 1st pic. It's blurry and doesn't do your bike any justice at all IMO.

I presume it wasn't deemed necessary for a 400, plus keeping costs down, and it would help the handling a bit I suppose. That may not be the correct reasons though MYC :)

That's what I guessed, less powerful motor; less powerful brakes required. (cost cutting)
How does having double disks detriment the handling though pete?

Less unsprung weight with a single Dave. Helps turn in and the suspension can react quicker. That's why people fit C/F or Magnesium wheels or good wavy discs. All IMO of course ;).

ah never knew that. I always assumed souble would be better handling...(cause you can stop quicker) but that makes sense.

It looks very shiney until you look at it now. I accidently melted my dads cover so the down pipes got melted cover on it :S When i first saw a the 400 version with only one disc I thought Nah don't like that, iv got used to it now. Going taking it to be restricted on Saturday but won't get it back for a week :(
First pics gone. Cheers,

It does a little yeah. Thanks. I like the screen 'cos its black and it hides the wiring behind it, used to a faired bike ya see, but unfortunatley the mounting point on one side is broke :(

Thought you meant engine size then lol!
I doubt they would have manufacturer different sized frames and parts but ya never know.

Apparently the 400 started off being 2035mm overall length in 1998 and then it gained 5mm in 2000 and then gain a further 30mm in 2003. Not sure how true this is but it sounds a bit odd to me. Found it out on this website http://www.suzukicycles.org/SV-series/SV400-SV400S.shtml

Aye the blue and white one is lovely. Do you use the SOC boards?
SV400Rob
08-03-09, 08:58 PM

I take it your refairing it then ;-)

08-03-09, 09:02 PM
I'd like to, but i think it'd benefit from a hugger and sports can first. Can't really buy much for it yet I'v still got to pay my dad back for the bike :S but I still look around anyway. Theres someone on here thats got a fairing for sale and wants £150 for it but I think its yellow with one red panel i think. We'll see what happens. Do you use SOC much?
BanditPat
08-03-09, 10:33 PM
Ah right at least the 650 stuff should fit it. I wish my dad would buy me a bike so i could pay him back. I use the SOC quite alot, its a laugh sometimes

I've got a 650 swing arm in the shed...like ya do, so I'm going to measure up and see if everythings as ashumed!
BanditPat
08-03-09, 10:53 PM
Lucky you, you got the rest of the 650 in there as well?? :D
SV400Rob
08-03-09, 10:56 PM
Haha unfortunatly not. Iv got a standard undertray and the swing arm...I may have a full 650 if I start collecting now lol

08-03-09, 10:58 PM
Lol, I'll have to stick with a peice of crap for the moment then
Nice bike and I did like the fairy! I didn't know there was a 400. Is that a GN125 in the first picture? It was my first bike!
SV400Rob
09-03-09, 12:40 PM
Fairys would be ok if i was a girl but im not lol. Yeah it was only ever made for the japanese market so any that are here in the uk are imports. Its a 1982 GS125. Pretty similar to the GN but if i remember rightly the GN is a more custom/crusier almost like bike.
Welcome aboard,
As you seem to be aware, what it looks like you've got there is an SV400S that's had an accident and been repaired as an SV400N, with clip-ons.
Nowt wrong with that, and it looks fairly tidy but please bear it in mind when ordering parts (The S and N footrest hangers are different for instance, so if you needed one replacement and bought a 650N hanger you'd probably end up with odd-height pegs).
It's probably not that cheap to convert it back to an S, you'd probably need:
mirrors, screen, plastics, front sub frame, in-fill panels, instrument surround, mounting brackets, indicators, a front "side light" and a headlight. It's not just a case of buying 3 plastic panels. This assumes the front wiring harness is OK, I'd imagine it's been altered to fit, so you may need one of them too.
Just enjoy it for what it is, I'm sure you'll have a ball. I don't remember my bike looking nearly that shiny... ;)
Good to have you aboard!

Thanks. That is exactly what it is. I am toying with the idea of converting it back as I prefer the looks of the faired one, Im not sure yet if I am going to do it as I don't know what I need exactly to convert it back. I dont want to get half way through and find iv not got a part that is vitally needed.

ahh yes, the illusive black fairing panel, as rare as rare can be....something to bear in mind if you want to convert it back ;-)
I'm still looking for a decent left hander for mine, with the correct decals!
SV400Rob
09-03-09, 05:13 PM
It doesn't matter really if the panels are a different colour. I have a relative that sprays panels! But i think the decals for mine could be very rare indeed! SV400 decals anyone?
