I tried on an Arai Chaser in the local dealer today, was pretty impressed by the fit and it felt a bit lighter than my Raid II as well. Just wondered if anyone had any good/bad/indifferent experience with them?

Tried one on today- seems very comfy and really tempted - where can I get best price though as its well over my budget. Was going to buy a raid ii (1400g) but found this - think its heavier (1440g) not that it makes much difference

Seems to depend on the paint scheme you want - plain ones are going for about £260 on t'interweb. I fancy the Wraith one, bit pricier though :(

Well, went to Hein Gericke and J&S Accessories today - although the Arai felt quite good, when I tried it back-to-back with another Shoei (along with every other make / model) it was obvious I have a Shoei-shaped head!

I was going to get another Raid II but I managed to get an XR1000 for £199 from J&S, nice design too:

I really wanted one in this design but it was £400!

It was just old - i've had it nearly 5 years and for the last 4 of that I've been commuting to work on the bike so it's taken quite a bit of abuse. The padding was starting to get a bit thin too so it was getting to the point where it wasn't going to be as good as it should be at keeping my noggin in one piece in a spill. Time to change it! :D

And the bonus to buying a Shoei - my dark visor fits my new lid too so I don't need to buy another one!

I had a look on a load of websites and I can't find any XR1000's cheaper than I got mine (well, I found one, but it's pink!). That site is pretty good though, the 2009 design that I fancied is just over £300.
