Ive taken this from my guildford thread as there has been such a low interest and opening it to the more active TV people. So see below!

Pretty much as per title really, it will be my 20th on the 15th and i want to go out for a decent ride, preferably not on my own!

Oh and i dont care where it starts, and the weather is forcast to be good from thursday through to sunday :).

Any takers?? GO ON!!!!

Ash.

Have licence, will ride.

Pick a place and a route. Wouldn't put too much faith in the forecast though - anything more than three days out is guesswork at best.

arcdef

well i only really know a few routes so was hoping someone else would be able to suggest something decent, the forecast will only be a problem if it changes to rain, drizzle/damp wont bother me too much, do you know some decent routes (im guessing so)???

i'm no good at routes but would consider once things have been fleshed out a bit more.

Possibly. It depends on a few things.

Same here. Technically I'm free and so would be up for a ride. At the risk of being a bit boring we could do the FOT (see http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=126731 for info).

KnightRider
09-03-09, 10:37 AM
If I am honest I can only do this if it starts and ends early in the day. ie need to be back for lunch with the girlfriend. A FOT would work well for this purpose if people were willing to get there early enough.

ogden
09-03-09, 11:02 AM
Define "early".

I wouldn't mind doing a route other than the FOT, though obv. the more random the route the more care we'd have to take with not losing people and my slow bike's off the road!

KnightRider
09-03-09, 11:29 AM
Early means - back for lunch so that my whole day isnt written off.

Would also be keen to do something different.

Ape - we went on a fairly decent ride around reading Maidenhead etc when I first joined with SDMF. If memory serves it was mainly B roads - any ideas?

OK, lets make this the birthday thread of the century by having everyone list what they don't want to do, when they don't want to do it, and maybe for added points go "maybe, if I can be bothered, depends".

Perhaps we could even set it to music!

Good god, I've just seen the original thread in the GM section.

First post suggests a ride-out, second post suggests IAM. That's creepy. I bet the IAM have people hanging around the riding school gates, offering sticky sweeties and somesuch.

I should be up for this. I get back from France late Saturday but if weather is good then I will be about. I also know a good route down to Halying Island if the coast is what you want. I know some good little routes going from me towards Alton, Odiham and ending in Basingstoke, not too long though at about 20 miles I think.

Hehehe, A rideout and IAM? Not exactly synonomous (sp?) are they! ;)

well i need to be back for lunch time also and dont care about early starts so that fits in perfectly (should have mentioned this first) and yeah the Guildford lot dont like using their bikes much do they!

Ill get stoned for this, but what is a FOT?

Just for me to get to the start point in Aylesbury is 50 miles.

Just for me to get to the start point in Aylesbury is 50 miles.

You and me both.

At least you don't have 40 minutes of getting out of London to deal with first.

arcdef
10-03-09, 11:00 AM
Yeah just had a look at that and its same for me, pretty far, anything a tad closer to London?

ogden
10-03-09, 11:03 AM
anything a tad closer to London?

Sure. Heavy traffic, blanket 50 limits and lots of speed cameras.

arcdef
10-03-09, 11:07 AM
So there are no other routes good for a morning?

Stig
10-03-09, 11:19 AM
I am not saying I wouldn't make the trip because I would. Just stating it is a fair distance to go. I would not be up for a late start as it would kill my whole day for one ride.

If your starting at Aylesbury and the weather is good I'd like to join ya :D

ogden

The only trouble with doing the FOT so often is I've not bothered to venture much beyond the TV area for roads worth riding. Any others I can think of that are worth a shot are even further north.

Si, you must know some routes south of the M4?

Stig

Si, you must know some routes south of the M4?

I know a few limited routes but they are generally Westward of where I live. In essence too far for anyone else to be bothered with.

DanAbnormal

Okay what have I missed, why is the start point in Aylesbury!!?

There are heaps of roads in Surrey that are awesome. But it's not my birthday so not up to me. :p

If it starts in Aylesbury I probably won't be bothered, no offence just too far to start a ride.

ogden

Okay what have I missed, why is the start point in Aylesbury!!?

Because that's where the A413 is.

If you think back to when you last did the route, you'll recall I tacked on an extra bit to the beginning to accommodate a start from the Shire Horse, taking in the A4/A404/A4130/A4074/A329/A418 as a route from there to Aylesbury before picking up the FOT route proper.

Stig

Newbury to Wantage B4494
Wantage to Burbage A338
Burbage to Marlborough A346
Marlborough to Newbury A4.

Total distance around 60 miles.

Yo, this also happens to be my birthday ride. If I have fixed my bike on Saturday and not gotten too drunk on Saturday evening then I might be able to actually join in!
