I reckon out of all those routes the Box Hill one looks the best. I'll post up here if I can make it.
Unfortunately not available this weekend. Can do 21st / 22nd March though if anyone is interested.
Have fun ya bummers. Keep it rubber side down.

You're such a rideout tart.
You're such a rideout tart.
No just keeping all my options open! That way i cant be disappointed :)
Heh.
I could be tempted to turn up for this, depending on route (finishing at Box Hill would leave me not far from home either).
One question to those in the know: what's the pace going to be like?
All welcome... The plan is to meet at Loomies, but if you want to meet at Box Hill, that works... we'll be there about 12:30. You could ride our rtn trip as your outbound section...
That's assuming Box Hill is the winning route.

Heh.
I could be tempted to turn up for this, depending on route (finishing at Box Hill would leave me not far from home either).
One question to those in the know: what's the pace going to be like?
as normal the pace will be at the slowest persons ability. Obviously depending on who the slowest person is.
chompy
pffft your only planning rides now cos you dont want me there being a riding god :D
unfortunatly to go on rides you have to have a bike ;):D:eek:
im sure your be there for the summer rides, who wants to ride in this poxy weather anyway
chompy

Oh.
The 250's currently off the road, so I may have to give it a miss.
We plan to have stop(s) on route so everyone can group back together.
Oh.
The 250's currently off the road, so I may have to give it a miss.
Do you really ride so fast that no one can keep up? I do know what you mean though when people dont get act together and you end up slowing right down to wait.
We could always put WB on the back of your bike...... lol
Do you really ride so fast that no one can keep up?
No, but I would like to change up out of first at some point ;)
Chompy - your brother intending to join?
Chompy - your brother intending to join?
im sure i could get him along ill have to ask him he hasnt been here the last couple of days. i think chris is coming as well.
Oh.
The 250's currently off the road, so I may have to give it a miss.
taking the **** a bit are we?
riding to the slowest person doesnt meen it will nesserserily (cant spell) be a slow ride, if you want to come we will give you the route and you can do it on your own and the rest of the group will see you there??
We arnt going to be going so slow that people fall asleep when riding, but then we arnt going to go so fast there is a posibility of someone hurting them selves because they are pushing there own abilities too far
chompy
I think it worked well last time we met, when a couple of us got bored pottering along/not overtaking, we went off to the next stop at our own pace and that was fine. No point newer riders putting themselves in danger, though at the same time they shouldn't get arsey when people want to up the pace a bit.
If I go on this and it is too slow for me, that's what I'll be looking to do.

Booooooring!
Booooooring!
maybe but i dont want anyone getting hurt, althought if the pace is too slow i will myself up the pace. everyone is riding for them selves. if you do not wish to attend that is ok. if you want to meet everyone there that's cool.
Rich -
my brother will be coming along on his blade, as long as the weather is good.

its ok this ride will be of a faster pace, and we will be overtaking this time.
should be a bit better

Oh good grief, lighten up.

hmmm its your choice if you wanna come. I dont want anyone coming off because they were trying to keep up.
so are you in?
cheers
chomps;)
Dunno yet. Depends on the route (the Box Hill one is the least appealing, since I'd be doing it backwards) and what else is going on at the weekend.
It's a shame my 250's off the road though - its performance is on a par with an SV which makes it rather more suitable for a group run than the thou.
I will try come, looking at an hour each way to loomies, plus i've got to do plymouth and back later in the evening. Sounds good though.

im sure your be able to keep the thou under control for a group run, my brother seems to do it fine and he has a blade, he sticks with the group and doesnt shoot off.

I don't mind being a pace setter - that way anyone who wants to go on ahead can... I won't be going mad but I intend to have a spirited ride with a stop for lunch and a bit of socialising.
I'm preparing route plans/directions - so everyone will know where we're going and where the stop(s) are, if any.
The invites there - everyone's welcome - up to you how you ride it - if you fancy it.
Weather's looking good for Sunday....
12C, little wind, cloud cover increasing as the day progresses.

It looks like Box Hill will be the ride for the day, however the Poll finishes Sat pm.... don't forget to check back to see what time we're meeting.
On that note - should the BH route win - Would anyone have a problem if we meet at 12:30 on Sunday? I can't now make any meet Sun am (I got my dates mixed up and am away Sat night. Won't get hm until late morning).
If this causes problems for people then I'll simply sit this one out. For this route the change bascially means we won't get to Box Hill until around 2 - 2:15, if leaving Loomies at 12:45.
Chompy is ok to meet everyone at Loomies whatever time and has route details etc.
the change of time would leave me out but ill go with the majority.
the hange of time would leave me out but ill go with the majority.
+1
Thanks guys - if the majority don't want the change - then I'll sit out as previous mentioned. Or I may try and meet-up at BH or something.
Just so everyone's aware this is not an organised ride btw, it's up to you which route you take etc. Chompy and I will be providing route details though, just so that people know where we're going etc.
ok, there is not going to be a huge change in time, the leaving time may be a little bit late say 15 mins, just means we have to ride 15 mins faster hahahah.

yeah not worries mate, put your bike next to mine:D
On balance, the Box Hill route doesn't really appeal, so I've nicked part of your Fish Hill route but I haven't quite worked out how to start it yet.
Any ideas? I'm coming from Wandsworth:

Heh. I really would, but the BH run just doesn't make much sense for me since I'd kinda be doing the whole thing in reverse. Twice.
If it comes to the crunch I can always just blat down the M4 to Newbury and kick things off from there.
Enjoy your ride and avoid the coffee at Rykas, it's dreadful.

Weather looks good.
BOX HILL is the winning route.
Meeting time is: 10:30 to 11:00
i will be there at 10 for a fry up, your welcome to join.
If you can park you bike next to mine, a 01 fully faired sv650 Candy Blue.
It will be next to a fireblade and a yellow tt600.
I will lead the ride. every one is to ride for them selves, use staggard riding and then take the bend how you would normally and go back to staggered, your get it after a while.
Me or Rich T are not responsible for anything that happens on this ride. (unless its fun)
when coming up to junctions ect please go two aside and pull of staggered.
i have routes to hand out incase you get lost and there is 1 stop on the way to gather back together.
please make sure you have a full tank before we leave. toileted and filled up with food :D
my number is on the bottom of the map ill give you incase you get lost or anything happenes.
see you there
chompy
I'm 80% sure I'll be there tomorrow but don't wait for me as if I'm coming I'll be there plenty on time.
Not sure on this staggered riding malarkey though...never done that before and seems a bit daunting having to worry about a rider possibly being near me going into a corner!

ooo another rider, its kl you stay the same distance away as in single file, but its so you get a good view of the road and if you have to stop quicky you have lots of room. then when going into bends you go single file ( well howere you want to take the bend)
chompy send me a text on 07833552433 if your not going to make it so we dont wait for you and find out your not turning up:p

So where was everyone then? I was at boxhill from 1145- 120pm
We ended up leaving very late due to waiting for people and by 1pm we had only just finished the A272 at which point i had to turn around to get home :(. No idea what time they would have got there. Were you waiting on your own??
Really enjoyed the ride though but im abit annoyed that my camera mainly filmed the verge  Will have to find a better place for it now.
Nice to meet everyone also!

Course you could've it's not like he wouldn't have known the route is it? ;)
I enjoyed it all, some very good roads. (Zig zag was pointless thought ;) )
Cheers lads
Good ride :) I'll post some bad photos after I'm done making some presentation slides.
What was the deal with the zig zag road then? I never made it there in the end.
I did a modified version of your proposed Fish Hill route (in reverse) instead. Well recommended.
I'm not sure the Metropolitan, Thames Valley, Gloucestershire or Warwickshire constabularies would approve, mind.

A few straight boring bits (A417 towards Cirencester isn't the most stimulating road), some hideously surfaced twisty bits (couldn't be bothered to work out a nice way to get from Streatley to Newbury) but mostly a great ride on a glorious day. Left home at 9am, got home just before 6pm.
Only went up Fish Hill once - there was a dibble parked halfway up making 'slow down' gestures, which rather dampened any enthusiasm for repeat runs.
That's typical - glad it was a good day though...
Route looks good.
