Help - going mad. I bought my K3 and the speedo was reading half speed, I guessed from previous threads that it may be the rotor. I've bought 2 new ones now and both have broke after re-fitting even though I have been careful re-assembling. I have tried to make sure the rotor 'arms' are sitting against the front part of the recess in the wheel so that logically they go round with the wheel and also that the sensor is behind the pin on the forks - but still they break! any ideas anyone would love to know the speed i'm doing!!

Thanks in advance

Hard to understand what's amiss here, the speedo drive isn't difficult to fit, are you sure you're getting it right? The drive lugs need to be in the recesses of the wheel, (I'm sure you know this - but it's worth checking). Can you fit the drive to the wheel neatly before fitting the wheel back in the forks? By which I mean that when the drive is on the wheel, can you snug the seal on the wheel neatly up against the side flange of the drive?

yep the drive lugs are going into the recess and the sensor unit is fitting tight back to the wheel all as shown in the workshop manual. I tried to make sure the lugs were against the 'raised bits'between the recesses (if you know what i mean) on the last attempt rather than just anywhere in the recess but that shattered three lugs off, normally only two! It still works when this happens but defo reads half speed, checked against the mrs car. Rotor seems to spin freely enough when put on to the sensor - so stumped - does seem as though it should be easy enough.

Does front wheel spin alright?

On smudgeK3s er K3... if you put the pin on the forks in the cutout in the side of the sensor there was loads of dragging. The sensor had to be facing back a bit from that for it to work properly.

The pin on the forks isn't supposed to be in the space between the cable exit and the stop, it goes in front of the stop. This is true for both Curvy and Pointy.

yes the front wheel spins ok and i'm sure i'm putting the sensor back in the right place, behind the stop on the forks to stop it being able to move forward. I put another rotor in the other night and that seems to be ok but am still reading half speed - come to the conclusion the sensor must be out - best place to get a replacement anyone? - or am I on the wrong track.

Thanks for the help.
