Lucky you, I worked in China for 3 years (10 years on and off) and saw one heck of a lot of changes over that period (80s/90s) Mainly round the GuangDong area but occasionally up in Beijing. Two memories of there, the cold and the pollution.

Hong Kong is one of my favourite cities. But the last few visits I miss the flight into Kai Tak between the high rise blocks.

Your photos look quite cool - it looks like a really interesting place...a place of stark contrast between the old and new.

I am off to China later in the year for our honey moon.

Hong Kong - Guilin - Yangshao - Shanghai - Xi'an - Beijing.

Hopefully we can get some photos to do the place justice too.

You'll not regret for 1 minute going to China, the scenery is amazing, the people can't do enough for you , the food is different every day and is superb. Take plenty of card capacity for the photo's, i could easily have taken twice as many as i did. if it's an organised tour it is pretty tiring, breakfast was between 7 and 8 o'clock and not back to the hotel until 6pm for tea. if you get the chance to do some extra shows in the evening they are well worth the money. If you go walking in Guilin watch out for the electric scooters, they are virtually silent! Have a great time.

our barmaid for the 4 day cruise, not brunette, but she sold plenty of drinks, especially to the men.

I'd so love to see the real terracotta army 8) saw a replica in the royal armories last week, and seeing your pics, puts into context how spectacular and vast they actually are. You don't realise how big they are singularly until your faced with one.

Brilliant :-)

utterly astonishing how they are putting them back together, each one is in hundreds of pieces, all different, archers, swordsmen, cavalry and their horses, etc, talk about painstakink work, still discovering new sites of more statues. you have to see it to appreciate the scale of the task. I'll never forget the site of walkink in to the first hall, mind blowing.

Daryl.
