View Full Version : Front sprocket advice.
Hi.
I've just taken my front sprocket off to replace. The one that I've taken off has on the outside of each side what I can only describe as a rubber washer. Its about 5-6mm thick. The new sprocket that I have Doesn't have this. Is this an original sprocket and aftermarket ones don't have this?
Thanks
Dan

Aftermarket ones dont have the rubber bit, not having it isnt a problem, never had any problem with mine.

Thanks for that. I thought that was the case, but it's always reassuring to get conformation :D
You don't happen to know the torque setting for the front sprocket as well do you?
Here you go!:D

The rubbery plastic thingmyjig round the front sprocket is only to reduce noise. Most OE ones have this.

That was my first thought, but changed my mind seeing as I have a shiny new torque wrench.

Good idea Dan. That nut needs to be freaking tight. Not sure most people would do it up tight enough without a torque wrench TBH.
Might be another daft question, but do new chain and sprockets need to be bedded/run in?

Not to my knowledge. But it might need re-tensioning early on.
Thanks Pete. Fingers crossed for a day like today and I'll try out my handy work. :riding:
