View Full Version : Personification- are you guilty?
For me, its just a bit of verbal abuse now and again and a pat after a ride... and the occasional prayer when trying the kickstarter on my tzr.
Now everyone elso own up...
feel free to post your bike's name if applicable. prize for the daftest name. or not.

me and little gixer get on very well :)
Roger's my sv. Short for 'The Jolly Roger'.
I often pat him say the odd thing to him (usually apologising for not taking him out or 'I'll have you sorted soon' or a quiet 'thank you' for a great ride and/or getting us both home safe) and I even give him the odd hug.
I understand the men in white coats will be arriving shortly. If someone can come 'round when I'm gone and give him the occasional hug for me I'd be most grateful.

I mostly treat my motorcycle as the object it is...a machine, one that needs regular maintinence and looking after to keep it in good condition
But i thank it when it gets me home safely in horrible weather
I pat it when i walk off to the lab everyday
i shout "c'mon bike, lets gooooo!" when im off to brighton :spiderman:

Just a thought boats have names don't they, well mine did anyway. So would be any different for a boat?
I did at one point consider have a painting on the hull, for when I fliped
boat, which tended to happen quite a bit!
I talk to Delilah all the time when I'm polishing her.:D

suzi is a most forgiving soul, i ride like a d1ck she tells me off (wee wobble here wee slide there) and we go home alive and well
mrs giggles would say i want to keep her in the house (which i do incidently) and pay more attention to her than the wife (for good reason) but hey my gun had a name (shian)
Looks like I'm the odd one out...
I love my 'Billy Blue'! We get on great together, and I give him a wee pat after a ride.

If a bolt shears off I shout at the bolt or myself, I don't have a heart to heart with the bike. It is, after all, a machine. Also, if I did speak to it and it answered back I would be too scared to ride it again
we're currently in discussions deciding on a name for miss ophic's new honda shadow. Any suggestions?

When I've been on a 12 hr night shift I always greet Suzy with 'ello burd' or with Dave its 'ello wifey' (watched far too much league of gentlemen) they get me home, I don't ride them, they go on autopilot, its only polite to greet the machine that gets you home when your brain is in bed mode;)
Now if Suzy is misbehaving, as she usually is I call her all the names under the sun, and threaten her with the skip! and Dave gets relegated to being 'the slug' if he steps out of line:o

I bet you say nice things to your bike, like this dude says to his car:smt081 When I was 17 I had an F reg festia, it often got told of for being a piece of ......

This makes me laugh so much, though I can't find a clip of what he does next when he kicks the car, thats just really funny.

:smt081:smt081 I'm not as bad as that, but with the problems I've had with Suzy this last week or so, oh how in my mind I'm beating her with that bunch of leaves:eye: I have threatened to take a hammer to the pair of them in frustration...

you're my wife now dave! hahah
I wanted to name my last bike but I just couldn't - at the end of the day it was just a tool that got me from A to B. I didn't think that there was any emotional attachment till I spent "over the odds" getting it shipped back from Kaz when I properly broke it.
The lad I was riding with at the time named his bike Maggie, which I thought was a cool name. His bike overcame all the wonky terrain he put in it's path - it was the Iron Lady. I wish I'd come up with that name for my bike!
My sv is Dita (after dita von teese-one sexy lady curvy lady) and the 675 is Teal (Teal the triumph)-both are female.

I find myself calling it Susie Q after the CCR song... not really intentional though.
