Have you tried moving usb ports and re-installing the device drivers for the camera. But sometimes the pop-up box will not appear if you selected 'do nothing' and 'remember for next time'. A slot move might kick it back in to action, failing that you will need to delete it from your device tree and this should reset the settings.

not in my computer, swapped usb ports, reinstalled usb drivers from canon's website AND restarted...

It's always worked in the past :( I've not made any major hardware changes to my laptop, not installed any new/dodgy software recently etc but it just isn't showing up at all.... and I can't find my frigging memory card reader thing anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!

:compcrash:

Delete it from the device tree when you next plug it back in, reboot, install drivers, reboot and then try again.

ah, problem solved...

was accidentally using the usb cable which came with my iPhone charger (a belkin cable... I should have known better). I've got the original canon cable in my camera bag which worked straight away - don't even remember throwing the spare belkin one in there :S anywho, sorry to have wasted your time guys! :)

went into the garage to see if I could find it. It's always in the way right until I need it, then it's no where to be seen :spiderman: grrr
