I've ran me new bike in now and it really is starting to loosen up. I think its absolutely amazing even with a pillion fitted. The engine is very smooth and extemely powerful and the brakes are truly wonderful.
The bridgestones seem to grip like a grippy thing and it even does 110 miles before the light comes on.

Now to the only problem. To have any fun with the engine on UK roads is illegal (even first gear nearly takes you to the national speed limit). It goes so fast that you only need first second and third on the roads if you're on the twisties!!

Do any of you lot feel SuperSports are completely over the top for the road or am I just getting old?

and have any of you ever considered trading a bike in because its too tempting to be naughty on it?

Glad your enjoying it

(even first gear nearly takes you to the national speed limit).

You will probably find that 1st gear take you over national if you take it to full revs.....I know my 600rr does and the kwak is supposed to give 84 in first is it not?

Your clearly getting old ;) You just have to keep your eyes and ear out......then if you get caught out ride faster

That is exactly the reason i didn't buy the 08 fireblade!!!

I knew my licence would be gone within days, the good thing about the SV is you can wring its neck and still be at almost legal speeds (on a private airfield of course)!

i was told on sunday my gsxr sounded like an F1 car in 4th at ###mph (on a private road), all bikes are ott really thats the appeal to me altho straight line speed isnt my giggle its the twisty's where i start to grinn.

Its even worse on the thou... 1st will take you just into triple figures. I think 3rd is purely for the fuel economy.

Do any of you lot feel SuperSports are completely over the top for the road or am I just getting old? They're completely unnecessary...

and have any of you ever considered trading a bike in because its too tempting to be naughty on it?but I'd not trade it in because I'm lacking the restraint to keep it on the leash ;)

so it'll actually break the law in first gear!

Amazing.

The twisties are great on the thing like but its very unnerving using pretty much second gear everywhere as the speed range it covers is amazing.

i pretty much just sit in 3rd and 4th that seems to suit my riding.

Yes, but thats why I like it. I dont ride it nutter fast and I have now developed some self restraint, but its nice to know that the potential is there and I find I ride it slower than I did my SV, because I dont feel I have to prove myself all the time on my GSXR

I'm pretty sure that if you get caught in triple figures, you may as well tear your licence up on the spot.

Like kwak though, I just tend to use 2nd in town and 3rd/4th outside of that - to keep it in usable power in 5th, you need to be doing about 65-70

Biker jailed for 150 today....although his seat was held on by string.

I find the engine takes it as a personal insult if you aren't making it scream. Although to be fair there is plenty of pull from low revs and you can meander along quite nicely if you want..

It's just bonkers that sometihng so cheap can go so fast (relatively) safely.

Whats it like for comfort compared to the SV? Have you riden any other SS600s as a comfort comparison?

How does your pillion find it compared to the SV?

Well she says its much better than the sv for pillion comfort, although I have added a grab rail for her (awful but works) and a sticky seat cover. As for me I never really managed to make the SV fit me even with helibars and a different seat.

The ZXR doesnt really hurt anything except my wrists and thats only at low speeds, the seat is amazing (even though its a plank) and it never feels cramped even though its tiny. I feel very comfortable on it although you are always aware that pitching so far forward limits all round visibility and encourages rapid progress!

For me my SS600 (CBR600rr) is alot more comfortable that my old sv650sport.

On the sv I used to get a really numb bum after 50miles, sore wrist and constant urge to go the toilet.

Did 300+ miles with Binky and Cartwrim the other weekend in north wales on the cbr without so much as an ache.

I'm 6ftish and weigh 12.5st for comparison, how comfortable you are ultimately depends on how your positioned on the bike.....I.e Height

I'm 5'8". Had a quick ride on a GSXR 600 K8 on the weekend and it was very comfortable, but then the GSXR is meant to be the most relaxed isn't it?

I think so, yeah. Although I get the feeling that they are still all in the same ball park, other than the R6 (which is even more track focussed, but noticeably so).

Anyway to the OP, I think on the right country roads these bikes can still be good, there is enough "speed limit capacity" to flex the engine enough without going too far over the limit. As Kwak said, enjoy the bends not the straights :D

I enjoy the bends on the thing immensely. I was also shown by a 636 owner how much he enjoys the bends on sunday. I simply could not believe how fast he was riding. The bikes certainly are never the limiting factor for going fast and its obvious I'll be able to hustle even more once I get more used to the thing and the suspension beds in a bit.

Can you point me in the direction of a decent ZX6R forum please?

The only ache I had from the day was a headache from Binky's can :smt070 :D

Jackie_Black, glad you're enjoying the bike mate :smt038

Gave me mate a lift back from the bike garage last night (he has an MT01) He said it was fine as pillion as long as you grit your teeth all the time so as not to lose them when you hit bumps in the road. He also said it was too bloody fast.

Watch this space..............

It does make me wonder why they actually produce bikes like the 'busa and b-king etc.

Now I'm not recommending it and YMMV but I was stopped for filtering at 100 & speeding up to 120 and I got 3 points £60 fixed penalty, I can only put it done to attitude once stopped & riding that didn't look too dangerous

Where did you get your grab rail from - do you have pics?

My gf says she is quite comfy on my ZX6R - we did 190 miles recently and she was fine. She also said its more comfortable than my SV was, I'm also happier on my ZX.

i got a renntec one from here

http://www.renntec.co.uk/iqs/dbitemid.450/sfa.view/grab_rails_cissy_bars.html

and a grippy seat from here

http://www.triboseat.com/

These parts are essential if you dont want to brake for two i.e. when the pillion slides forward and doubles the weight on your wrists.

It doesnt look to bad i suppose and serves a purpose. I'll get some pics up at some point. I've also installed smaller but much brighter LED indies which can actually be seen.
