No problems, I've accepted everybody into the league
In case you hadnt noticed, the first two races are practice races and after these two the scores get set to zero and then the scoring starts proper.
Thats just how the profantasyf1 league works I have no control over that bit of it unfortunately.
FYI - if you read the small print - the points that you collect for the first 2 races don't count.
That's a tad annoying!

That's a bit dumb really is it not? I mean everyone will then make changes according to the form of the first two rounds. Sort of throws out the window of studying pre-season testing and sticking your finger in the air and guessing. That is part of the fun. Seeing how well you did before everything gets going.

I think it is, but then if you screw up your team at the begining of the season ( like I normally do ) then it can work out in your favour :p
That sucks ass as i've jsut changed mine specifically for Australia and also set that as my home track GRRRRR

Anyone fancy winning a bottle of champagne?
All you have to do is pretend you're interested in the world of finance (or better yet work in the world of finance) then join my league - we're giving away a bottle at the end of season to the winner:

Why have I not scored any points?
I noticed this too.....on the "Team" page, you need to "Submit" your team for it to start accrueing points. Must say, it wasn't mentioned in the rules etc and so anyone who doesn't select submit wont score points until they do.....Can I suggest therefore everyone does.

Thanks.
:p @ everyone :p
Let me bath in my moment of glory of being 59th in the world. I'll only go down from here
Way I saw it was whilst everyone is scrambling to sort out their diffusers, i'd take advantage of knowing who's gonna be up there.
From now on, it'll be more open as other teams will advance and catch up quick so it'll be harder to decided which team/car/drivers to select to make best use of double points.
I could have done better though :( Knew I should have stuck with Vettel :(

I was really happy with my team! Webber made up loads of places even though he didn't finish in the points. Button and Vettel were my other drivers who were 1st and 2nd and both made up places off the start. My engine was RBR so that did alright and the constructor was Brawn. Joint 126th best team of the week (why am i proud of that?) :p.
I had BMW components....now traded away after their poor performance!

Still in third from bottom :( My 3 drivers finished in the top 4 today which was good. Brawn constructor and engine (which i think is good).
Hopefully next race i'll move up one or two \o/
I had a bad round this weekend. For some reason I had faith with Kubica......
Doh, that'll teach me.
Crooky, im coming after you boyo!!!!
I'm coming after both of you. Just wait for my bonus race. [-o<
Does anyone know what's happening with the transfers - I thought we were getting 3 transfers per race?
I made 3 transfers before Spain and now it says that I've got no transfers remaining....! I want to get shot of Hamilton.

I thought it was 3 transfers per season...
edit: But i thought wrong:
"You can make up to 3 transfers per race throughout the season."
I made one ages ago though and it still says 2 left so i don't know.

Yeah - "5.11 A maximum of 3 transfers will be allocated to each team per race. Exact dates for transfer allocations may be found in the game rules. Unused transfers may not be carried over to the following race."

Results are in after Monaco. A few people played their bonus races and its seen a change at the top with Colin Hacket moving into first place.

Didn't exactly do well on that one. Forgetting to sub a RBR driver for Barichello was a mistake.
Timo Glock (10th and +1lap) was the "best component" of Monaco. More points for having a crap weekend and overtaking the back-markers during the race.
"Each driver will generate +2 points for every position gained from their starting position on the grid to their final placing."
OK
"If a driver climbs more than 8 positions between their grid and finishing positions they will receive a bonus +10 points."
OK, but I don't agree with rewarding bad qualifying with the potential to score like that.
"If a driver does not gain/lose any places from starting grid to race finish he will be awarded +5 points. "
Huh? So with 10pts for 1st place, and 8pts for second, it's better not to overtake anyone than to overtake the leader?
No bonus points for laps led, fastest lap, no big win bonus (2pts) and that's the objective really isn't it?. No penalty for being lapped and stupid points scoring systems for qualifying too: Which drivers goes all out for the fastest time in quali 1? (15pts) Or even quali 2? (10pts) Meaningless laptimes to qualify for the next session. 5pts for the pole position seems like an afterthought.
/sore loser :) Bit daft though innit? Could be better.

I subbed him in for Vettel. Unfortunately Hamilton had a crap weekend, luckilly Vettel had a worse one.

I had Vettel and Webber... fail.
Strange how you can have a Brawn 1+2 with the same engine and constructor and come away with bugger all :p

Read the scoring system. It's basically a lottery, you don't want to pick the drivers that do well all weekend, building to a pole position and lights to flag win- you want the ones that do great in quali 1, crash in quali 2 and then make their way forward from the back of the grid after a gearbox change but don't score a single WDC point.

Nonono i read it ages ago and understand it fully... i'm just like the guy up top, sore loser.
I've been expecting the Brawns to get hammered in quali as they've been caught up by... loadsa teams, but yeh again they go and put them on the front two rows... which leaves me with sod all.

Profantasy site is updated after Turkey, doesnt look like things have shifted around much with Colin Hacket still in first place.
Thingus
08-06-09, 12:14 PM
Changed things around for the last race. With Kovalinen doing well in practice, i added Hamilton (way to go) instead of Webber. I put Raikkonen in to replace Jenson because i had a feeling he'd just start and finish at the front anyway, and the Ferrari's were supposed to be decent at this race. I kept Vettel, who just went back a place. Did well with the RBR engine, but that's a consolation.
Total fail, i just hope that things will work out again in a couple of weeks.

I have the profantasy site in my favourites as the profanity site because every time I see how well my team did I think, f**k.
;o)
Button's pass for the lead = -1 point. D'oh!
And somehow Vettel's fairly rubbish race still meant he was the most valuable driver in Turkey, which is nice for me, probably by virtue of qualifying being more important than the race, which we all know is correct.
Lead pass = -1 point??
Im so confused by this league. I had Lewis, Rubens, and Jenson. I got ?? points for lewis coming from 16th to 14th, then back to 17th, then back up to 13th...
So do I get 2 points for the first move, then another 4 points for the 2nd lot?
Likewise with Rubens, do you get any points for those 2-3 overtakes he done?
Im so confused, its not about picking the best driver and planning. Its pure pot luck, who overtakes more, who has the best qualifying etc...
Think I'll find a simpler one for next year like the bikes one. Simple.... 10m for each series, pick 2 riders for Motogp, WSB, BSB. Thats it... Get points on finishing position, easy, simple.
fizzwheel
08-06-09, 03:29 PM
Meh you bunch of muppets....
You dont get a point for each overtake they make only where they finish relative to where they started. So if you overtake 3 people and then they all overtake you again and you end up finishing the race in the position you started i.e. you start 16th and finish there, you dont gain any points for the 3 overtakes you did. But... you do get 5 points because you finished where you started...
So Lewis started from Grid 16, he finished grid 13, so he made 3 places from his start position. Each place gains him two points. So thats 6 points for that. He did 58 laps and he got a point for each lap. So his total points for this race was
58 + 6 = 64
Heres his stats page
http://www.profantasyf1.com/stats.aspx?page=player&id=22745
Jenson scoring works like this
He did 58 laps
He made up 1 place from his grid position so thats another 2 points
He came first so that gains him 10 points
So his total was 58 + 2 + 10 = 70 points
heres his stats page
http://www.profantasyf1.com/stats.aspx?page=player&id=1626
Jenson scoring works like this
He did 58 laps
He made up 1 place from his grid position so thats another 2 points
He came first so that gains him 10 points
So his total was 58 + 2 + 10 = 70 points
2 for the overtake, 2 extra for being 1st instead of second. = 4
Staying in the same position you started the race in = 5
so net gain for Jenson's overtake = -1
this scoring system = priceless.

*shrugs*
Last year, it was different you got 5 points for every place gained... but then the pricing of the drivers as different and it was hard to fit it into the budget.
I look at it differently. I'd rather my drivers finished the race and then worry about scoring points for moving up places etc etc. If they dont finish that hits you harder than anything else does... especially if they go out in the first few laps at somewhere like Monaco...
Exactly, so the guy in 13th nearly got as many points as the guy who won the race...
Priceless
Thats what I mean, its pot luck, totally random. No logic or knowledge needed at all.
fizzwheel
08-06-09, 04:10 PM
Yeah but the guy who finished 13ths costs alot more to put in your team than the guy who finished 1st does.
TBH the stuff with Ferrari and Mclaren being poor has turned the whole thing on its head.. Also Lewis is doing better than the car is and making up places to.
Last year it was more clear cut i.e. you go for big name drivers or you went for back / mid grid drivers who were cheaper but made points by moving foward or when those in front of them broke down...
I'm actually finding it quite interesting this year TBH.
Not your fault anyway Fizzy. But I do blame you for the extra emotional stresses you are causing me when me drivers/teams balls up...
Queue Lewis last weekend for example...
Rubens this weekend etc...
Any idea how far in advance you have to do your transfers for them to 'pay out' for the weekend???
E.g. I Input Webber Friday morning, will i get points for this weekend?
Thingus

Is Glock the strongest driver lately?
He hasn't been getting no where near the amount of press attention as he should. So many times now he's started from near the back and finished in the top 10.
Hungary - Qualified 14th / Finished 6th
Germany - Qualified 20th / Finished 9th
Britain - Qualified 8th / Finished 9th (Odd one out)
Turkey - Qualified 13th / Finished 8th
Monaco - Qualified 20th / Finished 10th

Look at Trulli's results though. He's higher in the standings, generally qualifies much better. Even if he does lose places, he is still bringing in more points. Coupled with two DNF's (one unlucky), i know who i'd rather have driving for me.
Not taking anything away from Glock though, he's certainly not awful.
