City Breaks with Beach

Looking at going on holiday later this year with the girlfriend. So i need some help with where to look at and possibilities.

We're preferably looking at a city break but somewhere near a beach. Is there anywhere other than Barcelona?

Doesn't Paris do a beach each summer? Easy to get to, bit of culture, good food, quite romantic....Only snag could be the pound vs euro at the mo.

if i wanted a a city break with a beach, id definately head for Viareggio in Tuscany/Italy. its beautiful!

I only spent 1 day there almost 10 years ago now when I worked in Italy but it was a lovely city, great people and a beautiful beach.

Then combine it with the MotoGP or F1 weekend. WSBK rolls into town in just over a week so a last-minute break may be in order;)

Thanks for the idea's guys. Looked into Valencia so far...shame the gf doesn't like motorbikes though...that also rules out stewie's idea :D

Miami I did with work in 2007. Neither of us are 21 (though I will be by the time we go) so that would rule about drinking in Miami.

I forgot to add we are only going for a long weekend, Thurs - Tues.

We went to a place called sitges a few years ago, yeah I know:rolleyes: its about 30 mins from barcelona and is a nice little town in its own right, however its also one of the most gay friendly palces on earth,I felt like a piece of meat for 3 days solid, I swam out a bit too far and got into a bit of trouble until I saw 4 gays blokes in a pedelow coming towards, the thought of being given the kiss of life by these lads certainly gave me a second wind :D actually its a really nice place and theres a good atmosphere there as well , btw I went with the wife :p
