View Full Version : Itunes Help?
I know its a pretty strange thing to ask on a bike forum, but thought id ask anyway..
I use itunes all the time and usually update it to the newer versions when prompted by my comp'.
Anyway i updated to the newest version which is 8.1 or something similar, and everytime i click to use itunes it wont open and just says it 'cant respond'.
Ive spent almost all day figuring ways to sort it - un-installing/re-installing, system restore but its been like this a couple of days so i cant get further back on the restore to when this first happened.
Ive even gone through all the recent itune versions to get it to work and it isnt having any of it!
Arghhh! Help...anyone?
Thanks
Mel.

Uninstall it, delete the iTunes folder in Program Files, then try again.

No you don't store your music in the iTunes directory under program files. If you've got it from a disc it usually creates a folder in My Documents, otherwise I store all mine on an external hdd.

Are you trying to use the old Shortcut on your desktop, or your quick launch buttons? Sometimes mine does this. What you need to do is find Itunes in your c:\programme files then create a new shortcut.
also, top tip. If you are using iTunes on Vista and find that it performs dog slow its due to the way that iTunes stores everything in xml files and updates them very frequently at the same time that Vista is configured by default to index that file type. If you tweak Vista to prevent it from indexing the c:\program files\iTunes folder and also .xml files you'll see a massive difference in performance.

Just tried that, I got rid of itunes in program files but its still doing the same, dont know if i should try it with an older version instead?
But also above itunes it had like a folder saying 'ipod' it doesnt have any music in it, but if its connected to itunes should i just delete that too?

I do have a shortcut on my desktop, but when i try to install the newer version it goes off my desktop then comes back again so im assuming it updates itself automatically?
Also when i click to open itunes - when its about to import the music it comes up with 'importing itunes library xml' - ive never seen the xml bit any other time ive install itunes?
