My Datatool Veto is emitting a high pitched whine from its control unit. When I arm/ disarm it it works but doesn't sound right (a bit like a tape player running out of battery).

The battery should be good as I replaced that this morning as the previous one was dead. I was suspecting the charging system, but now I'm not so sure.

Its on a 99 SV650. Electrical modification - replacement pattern reg/ rec 10k ago. Left hand seat bolt removed, no wear to the loom at this point.

And as a rant, Datatool do not have a working phone number. So much for customer service.

Maybe the replacement batt is dud too? Might be worth trying an extra one.
I might not be right tho as I have never fitted or had fitted an alarm lol

Just gone back out and the whining has stopped so I checked the voltage on the battery. Its fine when the electrics are off but switch the bike on and it is well below what is needed.

Thus the engine will now not start and the draining noise from the alarm when its arming/ disarming is showing a hit on the battery also. So it looks as if its a charging system problem again.

I will take more of the bike apart tomorrow to be sure as I don't have the space to do it at the moment. I'll put money on it being the reg/ rec again.

I had a datatool 3. Mine was making the same sort of noise and it wouldn't let me arm/disarm. eventually I put it down to bad connection in the starter relay. However, by that point i had removed the alarm out the bike but i've also heard it could be a duff ecb board in the alarm.
