View Full Version : insurance Q's
got my renewal letter from cia £675, so i do the go-compare search and get it down to £375 with mce.
now the £375 is f/comp, with no extras, so i phone cia and tell them, as you do, and they come back with a price of £374.
anywho, a bit of bartering i get cia to £405 thats with legal cover and roadside assistance,
so, is legal cover worth getting, and whats the differance between breakdown cover and road side assistance (apart from breakdown is about £50 dearer)
i did ask the guy, but he was a scouser, and all i could picture was the harry enfiled sketch, so i was not realy listening to him)
calm down, calm down lol

i think this is a more appropriate harry enfield character for dealing with insurance companies:

I'd say legal cover was worth getting. I got driven into once by an uninsured driver so the legal cover solicitor took him to court to get my excess back and won and I got it back eventually. Its normally not much extra on top of the policy.

Not entirely sure but I think road side assistance means they will do what they can to get you mobile again but if not you will have to pay to be recovered. Breakdown covers you for recovery but again there are different levels of recovery. Recovery to nearest garage or recovery to any destination. Difference is the cost. I would find one that will cover you for recovery after an accident and go with that one. It is painfully expensive to have your vehicle recovered after an accident if you do not have that as part of your insurance cover.

Or you could join the AA for your breakdown. It costs me £7 a month but covers me on any bike or car I'm travelling in, whether I'm driving or a passenger, whether its my car/bike or not. That includes being delivered anywhere in the country if they cant fix you at the roadside aswell. Worth every penny IMO and better than what most insures offer.

but thats £84
I got my insurance with A Quote, they find the cheaper insurer with the things you want in your insurance. They quoted me £270 which I thought was excellent considering I only have a bike license and provisional car, my first bike SV650, my age 24, etc etc. This included legal cover, hero breakdown which covers everything even riding abroad, riding other bikes and 90 days riding over seas, but this is third party, fire and theft, still quite good tho I think.
Your best bet if your looking for cheaper is to ring everyone, as they give different quotes depending on your circumstances.

AA insurance will not recover you after an accident - RAC will..

you dont tell them you have had an accident just say your bike wont start. because after most accidents your bike doesnt start. therfore they will ahve to take it for you. my mums friend did it the other day when she came off. they took it for her eventually :D
