I dont understand why people do it or what the point of it is?

Ive seen a fair few people out on their bikes recently, and many of them were wearing full leather kit with a jumper or hoody on top.

Is this a secret trick to keep warm? Is it a strange fashion statement? Can someone enlighten me?

Yeah, I'm too fat to wear one under my leathers. It cuts out the air to the air holes in the leathers and can keep you a little warmer :)

I see...I'll have to bear that in mind if I start finding it difficult to squeeze into my leathers..!

I'm KIND of with you. But I did buy an XXXL top and have started wearing it ontop of the leathers but only in colder weather e.g. in the morning on the way to work, it's nice and small to roll up too when you get there

leathers should be a snug as possible - ie room under for t-shirt, undies and socks.

If its cold you have to layer over them.

Ive been piling on the layers underneath :smt017 (vest top, thermals, back protector then cardigan).

Im quite liking my textiles more than the leathers at the mo but will switch to leathers when it gets warmer :D:cool:

I wear a fleece over leathers when it's a bit chilly. Keeps the cold air out.

And a fleece looks so cool:cool:

I wear thermals under leathers if it is parky, good ones work wonders. I thought folks wear jumpers over the top to keep fly squash off their trendy A* or Dainese fashion statements?

Pete and I both wear a fleece over our leathers in cold weather. That plus thermals means we can wear leathers all year round rather than textiles, which we prefer:D

sometimes riders have t-shirts on over their leathers when its a charity run and have the charities name blazened across the back.
and also if you wear a white shirt it reflects the suns heat and keeps your leathers cool in the summer.
or so they say.

That was the genral consensus of opinion from a 6 page thread a year or so again when a photo of me amerged on silverstone with a jumper over my leathers :smt017:rolleyes:.

At least this thread seems a bit more sensible with people realising its to keep warm.

Lol, if that's the case it's failed dismally with mine! I wasted two hours of my life the other night trying to clean mine up. They are filthy!

Still I'd rather be out on the bike getting my leathers mucky than not:D

But whats the pont of wearing a cruddy old fleec over your overpriced and sexy looking A*s leathers? Surley you aint showing them off to the world?

I'm convinced some guys do it just so they look like a meag hunk to those who dont realise its all padding and armour under there.

The male equivalent of a Wonder bra perhaps? ;)

it's for warmth, not sure I'd do it though could see a hoody 'grabbing' onto tarmac.

Thats alright.....someone will come along in a minute and start shouting how a hoody will give more protection than [insert branded leathers name here] anyway
