Check the rads for crash damage, expensive to replace.
there was a buyers guide in Ride or Fast bikes not so long ago, but I think I've chucked it.

Lumpy fuelling on the SP1, was sorted on the SP2. Great bike though. Joey replica is my fave.

How YOU doin?????
Fantastic fast bike. Drinks petrol like all big twins do. Bloody nightmare trying to ride it slowly. As has been said. Check the rads. Because of their position they are built in very expensive crash bungs.

I got that copy of ride in my living room, talks about both sp1 and sp2 with great detail, pros, cons and what to look for.
I can scan the pages in and e-mail it to you, but can't do the scans until this evening. PM me your e-mail if its not too late.
good luck :D

No it isn't. It's ever-so-slightly less bad.
The SP Honda has to be one of the worst roadbikes ever constructed.
The suspension is jarringly stiff, so much so that unless you find a particularly unusual smooth road, holding a constant throttle is impossible, this is in part because the throttle is very, very light, and partly because of the way the power is delivered.
On the sort of days you'd want to ride it, (nice sunny afternoons) it's awful - the side mounted radiators chuck so much heat on to your legs Colonel Sanders would be proud of the result. In the winter this would be perfect - but you won't want to ride it then 'cos the power delivery and the painfully stiff suspension make it truly horrific in the wet and cold.
If you only ever used it for tracks it would undoubtedly be wonderful, otherwise you need your head tested.

Yeah, buy it!
Those bikes sound AWESOME as can be heard from this;

Having ridden my cousins a while back I like them, didn't have a problem with the fueling, throttle or suspension, in fact was quite surprised at how easy it was to ride compaired to my vfr400 that I had on the road at the time, thought it felt solid and stable.
Well that was a strange afternoon, loved the bike but the stealer was a *****.First prob was the fact that he wanted a grand more than all the guides sugested. i offered t pay him cash but he still wuldnt budge.
BUT ...he was very keen on guiding me to a new bike..."look my friend, you could have this on interest free finance, and put your money in an account to make some interest"What half a percent, thats one reason I want to spend the stuff.
Guess I wont be having it then
Best left well alone then, you'd have thought end of financial year he'd want to make as many sales as possible. Credit crunch can't be affecting him yet then, you really considering the SP's, i'll keep an eye out round here for ya!!

Matey, considering you've struggled with ya arms and back, would have thought an sp would be worse. Sound like ya had fun. If you get one...............
Gis us a go?!?!?!?! :-)

arms not too bad now mate ,after all the physio.Thought it may be my last chance to get one.
And yes...u can have a go
Having ridden both, I'd recommend you steer clear of both the SP1 and SP2. Honestly, I'm sure if you lived near the French mountains where the road surface was perfect and the corners sweet, it'd be great... but you probably don't.
Both of these bikes were owned by a friend of mine following a whimsical desire to own this successful race bike... but what it came down to was that he couldn't ride for more than 30 minutes at a time, and didn't dare ride in anything but clear weather... it meant that he rode less and less. So now he's got an R1!
how did it go?
i know for sp1 & a firestorm for sale
