Yeh so this is my first off, i'm sure there will be more :p can't remember much of the build up really...
was following a friend on his gixer up to a roundabout, all i remember is seeing him rolling along, looking right to see if there was any traffic, absolutely none, but when i looked forward he'd stopped, only about 15 mph. Still, hammering on the front brakes like the absolute newb that i am didn't help the situation, and down i went on the left side, and took out my mate on the gixer! I suppose that's one bonus. Nah his bike's fine (thank fook) and he's got a swollen ankle. He was alright about it 'cus he's that kinda guy, but eek i felt stupid.
So damage to me, swollen ankle, bruised knee and hip.
Damage to bike :rolleyes:;
Front hugger cracked right in the middle... fender extender glued onto it aswell so i'm double fooked on that one.
Front right fairing bodged out of position, bit of shoving didn't manage to get it back in but i don't think that'll be too hard.
Windscreen cracked off on the right hand side, i've got the missing piece but i don't fancy having half a windscreen glued together.
Front left fairing has a 3 inch scratch, can't tell if it's past the paint but i think it is.
Clutch lever broken, only the little bobbly bit off the end, still works.
Speedo casing (the watertight bit) has come out a bit and can't get it all the way in... (oh dear?)
Worst one of the lot... gear lever thingy (left foot rest) fallen off, sheared at the two bolts that hold it onto the bike. Gear change still works but the lever is totally fooked and the toe rest thingy with the rubber around it came off too.
Found a square-ish piece of plastic aswell but i dunno where that came from.
So i learnt a lot from having a bike on my leg and i doubt i'll do it again. Weird thing is, only about 6 months ago, someone did exactly the same thing to me, in exactly the same spot, although that was in a car so i didn't care so much.
On top of all that, i'm stone flat broke, so i've gotta hope that some money comes my way soon otherwise i'm gonna be spending 3x as much on fuel for my ****ty car!
hah, rant over :p

Cheers Husky. Few pics below of damage (broken windscreen aswell) Any help appreciated.
I PM'd Adam Castell who has some parts going aswell so i'm wondering what he's got.
It's the hugger and windscreen that are going to be the big expenses, along with that bloody fender extender which i just bloody glued on.
Thanks again.

i'm on it re your gear selector-you checked your forks and front sub-if the fairings don't line up it normally points to the sub being twisted/bent. I should have a spare gear mount etc in the garage for my rebuild bike-if i can't source you one pronto you can borrow the one i've got until I can get a replacement-you cover the postage i'll send it down and once i get another we can sort out the bangers. If your short of bangers at the moment i'd just fibre glass the mudguard from the inside and get some black adhesive sheet cut to cover up the damage on the outside till a cgb one comes up-I might have some black sheet in the garage will check and get back to you

oooh poo! sorry to hear of your news mate :( glad your ok tho.
At least you both wern't injured. Riding with other people takes a bit of getting used to since you dont treat them like normal road users (leave a lot less space).
Im glad nothing like this has happened to me yet.
Its just a curvy though...

Husky you're a good man! Anything you have is much appreciated, i've got some cash to cover whatever you want for whatever you've got (someone lent it me on a permanent borrow basis :-))
Ironically, the guy i hit had a 140mph fall yesterday evening at a roundabout and came away with a broken oil casing on the left side, all the oil came out onto the road and covered his rear tyre, he came away with a bust knee and a scratched helmet (he wears jeans aswell and no back protection)... fortunate guy.
While i'm on the subject, is your r&g crash thingy brakes your fairing just a little where it's bent into the fairing, along with the pin it's holding on, aswell as that oil casing, is that r&g's product's fault?
Thanks ppl

how did u crack the mud guard there ??
Absolutely no idea, i was thinking maybe it was the front of the fender which hit his bike but i was surprised when i saw it.
this makes me feel better about dropping my bike after turning out of a junction yesterday... thought i was too close to the kerb so snatched mmy brake (like that'd help!) and tipped it to the left side, thankfully i was close enough to the grass verge that i (and the bike) had a soft landing!
Hope you get everything fixed.

oops, but glad you're o.k. nice tp know people off the site are coming up with parts for the s.v. You won't be the first to have a crunch like this or the last, put it down to experience. rd and i saw a very near miss on Dinas Mawdy yesterday, " bikes came over a crest to discover that a landrover had stopped to turn right up a small track, 1st bike stopped and his mate behind hit his front brake, cue a huge tank slapper, missed his mate by inches, big brown trouser moment. Very funny to watch.:D

This really was interesting, I've never seen a tankslapper up close live and personal. We were about 150m short of the top of Dinas Mawddy when a Land Rover came over the top, and stopped in the middle of the road indicating right to go up a mountain track. I slowed down, wondering if the driver was going to chug across in front of me. Next, two cars came over the top, slowed down. Then a bike. Next, his mate came over - by this time we were about 50m from the summit - and this idiot on a big Suzuki was going TFF, grabbed a fistful of brake, as Daryl says a huge tankslapper and the back was hopping about, how that bike stayed upright I don't know. I could see the bloke's face, he was terrified. Anyway he was OK so we rode on by. Clear lesson - always be able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear.
Thingus - bad luck, and your SV looked so good. It'll look good again:cool:
