Saw this on the web and thought I would share...

Worth entering I think...one bike per dealership is better odds than usual! :)

Might pop down, worth a shot.

You have to guess 5 letters randomly removed from a randomly selected numberplate, each numberplate is unique to each dealership.... Hmm, that's going to happen!

Or, you can post your name, age & address to them, without guessing letters...

Not exactly good odds are they? And how's it work with postal entry? Maybe they send you an entry form or something depending on your location.

They will probably enter you into the draw at the Suzuki dealer closest to you, obtained from your postcode. I'd say the odds are pretty good (obviously depending on entries) looking at the number of dealers in the list and it's one per dealer. Much better odds than the 1 bike they were giving away at the NEC. How many peeps would have entered that and at other shows/events they were doing it (given that the show was November and the closing date is Sept 2009).

I don't see anything saying the bike MUST be won. Doesn't matter how many enter, if nobody guesses the letters nobody wins a bike. I bet they send you the entry form if you apply via post so you can guess your letters and send it to your local dealer. I'll send off to see.

You got A - Z without I or Q, 5 to guess and I bet they won't be using localised plates to make it easier. If they were digits you'd be looking at 1 in 100,000. At risk of exposing myself as a maths dunce, I make that 1 in 7,962,624.

My bike is XX04XXX. Guess the letters and we'll see how lucky you are :)

Exactly.

They state you have to guess the letters at the dealership, with the form, to be entered into the prize draw.

However, the postal entries, you just post details to them to be entered. My first assumption was that you'd be entered at a dealership local to you. However, I have a sneaking feeling that it's at the dealership of their choice.

At my local dealership, I can't imagine many people would enter (most people probably won't know about it), and population density is pretty low. So they'd stick the postal entries to a "busy" dealership to even the odds in their favour. Then obviously if you win, you have to pick the bike up from the dealership of their choice, on their chosen date. ;)

+1

Not every dealer will give away a bike. Its not like putting your name in a hat, its a case of guessing the letters which is pretty slim.

Maybe theres a way around it... You can make a few random guesses, and then check online to see if the plates already registered for another vehicle. If it is, then guess another combination?

To enter the prize draw and qualify for the opportunity to win a GSX-R1000, guess correctly the missing letters from the randomly selected registration plate, fill in the form and present it to a Suzuki representative or send your name, address and date of birth to GSX-R1000 Free Prize Draw, 12–14 Church Street, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1US.

This is the statement from the T&Cs; I read that as you fill in the form either way, and then give it to the dealer or send it direct to Suzuki. It's ambiguous enough that I'm not 100% though, it would be worth clarifying. I doubt they would offer a much much higher chance of winning, by entering in this way - it doesn't seem correct.
