How much is TPO? If its not much less than the theft cover, then pay the extra for theft cover. The fully comp is a lot more.
I only pay for TPO, and i plan to for future bikes untill it becomes more affordable.

Depends on how much your bike is worth

TPO wasn't an option on the website mcn, but even if it was wouldn't go for it, i recon the biggest risk is of it being nicked not that its that bad round here but not had a bike where i live now befor, or possibly of me stuffing it into something, hope not lol.

ps on the receipt from shop it was listed as a sv650 sk6 s, but bike is an 07 registered mid april 07 and on the insurance website when you put in the reg it listed it as a sk7, i'm taking it sk7 is correct and that the sk6-7etc goes by year registered and that bike shop saying sk6 is wrong?, thanks in advance, andy.

Fully Comp every time for me and all my vehicles.

Better to have piece of mind and know that (fingers crossed) should anything ever happen then all I have to pay is the excess.

im fully comp but thats only because my work says i must be to park the car in the yard,

i can get tpft for 90 pounds of fully comp for 146.

i do like the idea of fully comp as if i drop it i can get them to fix it, but saying that when it fell over in the petty garage i didnt claim for the dent in the tank.

may i also suggest fully comp....

im TPFT, I was hit off my bike in November...had I of paid the extra £100 (£10 month!) I would have had a check before xmas for £2000, from the third parties ins, and then if it turned out to be my fault they would just claim it back from my ins....

as i was only TPFT I have recieved nothing so far cuz the dude is disputing liability...once this policy is up I will be fully comp everytime

depends on your age. At my age tpf&t is the only way to go. Looking at those quotes I'm guessing your old enough for fully comp to be practical

Same situation here. Especially if the bike isn't worth a huge amount, by the time they've taken the xs and seriously undervalued you bike, the actually money you would get back from a total loss is not all that far from what another years NCB would save you anyway. Thats my experience with cars anyway, can't really offer an opinion on bikes as I'm new. I'm TPFT on mine though.

I've had one crash on mine (tpf&t) and it's upped my insurance premium by about £3-£400 (a year!) just cause the other guy claimed  I kind of wish in this instance I'd had fully comp as there was a claim going through anyway and I could have got like £1500 for the written off bike and tried to sue myself for personal injury.
But in hindsight it wasn't too bad as I repaired the bike for about £300 and only took a week and a half off work which the boss very kindly paid me. Quite ****ed off I'd only had my lid 3 days before it saved my life tohugh (kind of,well quite grateful in another way)
live and learn

I still wouldn't pay for fully comp as it's never practical to claim off it if you're young unless someone else already is. Just get tpf&t and use your eyes.

fully comp, with legal cover too, oh yes!

After 3 years of getting it, I don't see the point in legal cover when the insurers only pass you onto a no win no fee solicitor anyway.

No it will just make you fit crash bungs and handguards.

For my bike, my age I would be mental to make a claim against full comp insurance. It would cost me more in the next years premium than I would spend either throwing the SV in a canal, fixing it or using a different bike.

the legal insurance?
Yes twice on both counts they sent me onto no win no fee solicitors. The one that was blatantly someone elses fault they sent me to 'comer crawley' who are shocking (still not got my moneys over a year later, done most the work myself) the cherry ontop was when I rang the solicitor and said 'why's this taking so long, have you attained the witness statement' ......'erm I dunno, have you received a copy of it from us?' 'no!'...'oh we haven't rang him then' . Bearing in mind this was 6 months on of course the guy had changed his phone number. Luckily I managed to stalk him down with just his name and the model of his car.

Secondly a 'my fault' crash which went to 'makoons' or something they turned down the case because 'they wouldn't win'. I suppose in fairness I did try and sue 'the **** that put that ****ing speed camera there'

A guy I ride with is about 40 and all his life he's just done his legal stuff himself and not had a problem. Just corresponds with the insurers by letter.

fair enough, its only as im going through one atm. i didnt even know if i had legal cover, but was quite relieved to see it on the policy. a quick look on their website doesnt indicate its a no win no fee, but i may be wrong. they seemed quite good on the phone today tho, so i guess i'll know in time...!

If it means owt, it averagely takes about 3 yrs for you to get what you want from a claim.
A close friend had a severe accident 2 years ago is still waiting for his claim to be finalised.
And Im Indoors accident claim took around three years to complete too

yorkie_chris
24-03-09, 07:58 PM
Far more serious injuries in their cases though, always makes the claim drag out.

dizzyblonde
24-03-09, 08:09 PM
true enough, minor cases i should imagine take much quicker. Suppose it go's on how complicated,

Actually on reflection, when it comes to what I'd consider a bump(in comparison to the above claims) they should be pretty open and close.

hi, well got fully comp including legal for 200 quid, funny how it allways costs more than what pops up on the screen, i was persuaded to add legal cover as woman on phone said something to the effect of that if it was a not my fault claim then then i did not have to pay the excess then claim it back later, as a women bumped me off my suzy gp 100 when i was a kid and it was brand new, got virtually nothing back, thought it was worth £25 extra
roll on the good weather this weekend, lol, grand prix as well lovin it.

When you get to 40+ you'll find a new SV and a ten year old GS is £159 fully comp, protected no claims & legal ins.
That the benefit of old age.

Fully comp all the time.:smt026
