How many people are taking up biking/buying sv's at the mo?! Is it just me or does there seem to be a constant flow of new members on this site? There's tonnes of new user's turning up regularly and it seems like the only forums where users register and then stick around to become familiar names next to a growing post count...

It's great :D so, when we getting some sv650.org business cards made up to leave on parked sv's? We gotta advertise :D

Don't knock it - new members are great and always welcome on here. There are lots of SV's I saw at the weekend but in the Ecosse site nobody admitted to it being them.

Why have business cards made up? If you have access to a laminator then make up a few " sorry to bother you but noticed your bike and wondered if you ever went on the SV650.org" cards. People will soon start coming on the site (hopefully) and it saves the embarrassment of chasing someone down the street to ask them.

my lad should be joining up at some point, he searches on here all the time for info, and he has had his sv for nearly two years now.

When you search "SV650" this site appears at the top on Google, so if people needed help / advice I'm sure they'd assume to visit here

Exactly what brought me here, I've had mine for a year but came here looking for advice on doing a service.

Read a few things and thought I'd sign up, your community spirit was your selling point. It may be what encourages other people to join up.

I know if I was going to go on rides with people I'd want to know they were a decent bunch first. Any outsider who reads this forum will see that straight away.

I've only been on my SV for about six weeks, so I'm probably one of those new members the OP is referring to.

I did a bit of research and the general opinion seem to be that the SV is a great first bike. That probably explains the steady stream of potential. members.

Retaining new members depends on the nature of the forums. The folks on here seem reasonably civilized and they are more interested in biking than calling each other names. Plus, the moderators seem to be doing a good job of keeping the trolls and spammers at bay. :)

That's pretty much what I'm looking for, decent people and a good signal to noise ratio. So I reckon I'll be here for a while, and hopefully make it up to Frith St. again before too long.

Just my thoughts,

Keith.

I'm brand spanking new here. ;)

Been on other forums for a while though, a year on BCF but it's pretty carp compared to here, everyone is more interested in insulting people over there.

Within about a week or two of joining up I was going to go on a ride out (untill the bike messed up) and have met Si who has been a great help!

Looking forward to meeting the local lot on rideouts in the future and can see myself staying on here for a while.

Org IS the best forum on the net, without a doubt. That's why so many people stay after they no longer have an SV. This is more than just a web site, it's a community.

You get the odd falling out, but on the whole people treat each other with respect. Yes, you get a lot of p*ss-taking amongst members who know each other well, but it is friendly p*ss-taking, not meant maliciously, and people are more than ready to help each other out.

Long may Org continue!

Swin

I've had my SV 2 weeks now, and I joined because I find if you have any newb questions about a bike the best people to ask are owners (and ex-owners ofc)

There's also a nice community feel, and a wealth of information available at the click of the "search" button!

Dave20046

aye tis a good community, when I first joined up I was pretty amazed by it (melody was nice in particular) so I stuck around to annoy you all...blame mel :smt019

Don't worry, widepants is also new here. Or should that be babypants?

List to this man, he talks sense!

So I guess it is welcome to everyone who joined up. Lot's of people already done up little business cards over the years. I am not sure how successful it was though.
