lovely bike, if you hold my hand i'll hold yours and we can hope they don't break down together:wink:

Wooooooooooaaaahhhhhhhhh! Remember - its Italian and therefore mey surrender at will and will definitely fall into a rusty heap if you mention rain!

That is a dangerous thing to know....

Thats how I got into this mess. That and the wife was almost forceful in the decision making process!

Oh, one of the new generation "quiet" Dukes NB650

My mate has an R6 with an after market can and aint happy - this is louder! When gently caressing the throttle at about 4-5k you can feel the vibes in the ground.

can i have it please? :smt083[-o<

Dont be so desperate love! If I wasnt old enough to be your father the answer would be sorry I'm married but feel free to have sit on it!

Sexual!! Go on then tell us how good it is

Obviously I am currently running it in, managed 110 miles between down pours today.
But the performance with the available rev range is like broken in SV650, cant (but will have to) wait to give it the beans.
It doesnt do light revs and clutch out then throttle! It sounds half the time like its gonna stall where its not best suited at tick over.
The hydraulic clutch will help develope my fore arm muscles, should match right arm by summer!;)
Pirelli Dragon Super Corsas - very little actual tread, I was pooing myself with the rain but seem to be good. Should be the mutts in the summer!
Very sure footed, possibly bordering inflating my confidence too much.
Turning circle of a tube train, on lock hands get trapped by fairing but then I guess it was supposed to be for nipping to Waitrose.

I had thought of so many things but cant recall them all. Please feel free to be specific!

The boom is dead - long live 0% finance!

When I referred to it as a quiet bike, I was referring to the non traditional wet clutch.:)

They do sound good even on standard pipes.

When I referred to it as a quiet bike, I was referring to the non traditional wet clutch.

Ah! I get it! Yes it is although the hydraulic bit can get hard work pottering around town! If I'm honest I think some of that bare mechanical noise you hear with dry clutches is actually the engine, it still has a certain sound with a wet one! Tell me Pete does your Duck seem reluctant to just take it easy, you know, tickle around just under 3k revs? This one is almost screaming ride me - dont fart around - make me go!

Lucky git! I had a letter from Ducati today with a brochure promoting the 0% finance, I know what I'm spending my redundancy on in January 2010

0% til end of April...................go on you know you want to!

Very sexy!

Ballcocks! As i'm not in the picture I'm sure you mean the bike!

Although the little brother to the proper big Ducati superbikes I do wonder if I can do it justice, mainly the fear factor and also, when riding, looking like a fat power ranger!

Would like to add that so far its not a bike for commuting, city dwelling etc IMHO, its a licence killer because you want see what it will do!

Please dont say things like that, I dont actually know if serious or not - tyres not a speciality of mine. Please explain!

848? Who let me buy one and without knowing about tyres?

My other half has a 749S which she lets me ride sometimes. Its just the same, you cant "pootle" around on it, the bike doesnt like it. Its not forgiving like the SV is, you'll need to focus on what you're doing to get the best out of it, its f*cking ace when you do though

Mine is not as tractable as the Sv. No surprise really as the engine's over 50% bigger. Fitted a 14 tooth front sprocket and got the throttle bodies balanced. Much better. The drive chain doesn't have as much free play in it either which adds to the directness IMO. As for under 3k, I'd forget it.:(

Some people on the other site prefer the 848 to the 1098. And I don't suppose 748/749 consider their bikes any less of a superbike. :D

I'm sure once you get your head around the different handling characteristics and power delivery of the bike you'll be riding at speeds you could only imagine on the Sv.

Gorgeous looking bike, I took one out for a test ride at the NEC Bike Show and almost crippled myself on it - if I could afford to have a bike to keep in the living room to replace my TV & Stereo, that would be it though!

Certainly very focussed and hoping I can get near to the best of it someday!

That would of course be the maximum of 70mph where permitted!;)

Kept at SW1A 2AA but you may have problems beating the security system!

Is it any better than the SV?

No!

Just a foot note though - Brembo brakes, if anyone is considering getting anything with these on it they are a little sharper than the wooden ones on the SV! Make sure you are planted against the tank before any heavy braking cos inertia is a biatch!
