Juat had a text off a guy i know, offering me his FZR 1000.

Now i aint seen it, but i'm gonna go check it out tonight, aparently its done 50k and is a 1998. he said it runs great and is all good apart from it could do with a respray. which might not be a problem, my bro used to be a sprayer and still knows people in the trade so gettin one done cheap shouldn't be a problem.

The guy wants £500 for it as he needs it gone.

I am happy with my 650 at the moment, only had it 6 months on an 05 plate with 3k on the clock. so thinking about gettin this to do up and sell on. the question is do you think it would be worth getting / doing? how much would it sell for when its done?

Cheers.
Colin.

Ride did a buyers guide on this a couple of months ago, said the engine is all but indestructable if maintained properly. I've never been near one my self but I've heard very good things.

i love em, but i would say that cos i ride one, although mine is a "little" different. main probs are the exup valve sticks shut/open. as long as its been fairly well looked after it should be ok. quick and handles well too. at that price i would have a play with it even if you sell it on in 6 months. good luck. mike

For £500 it'd do as a commuter / winter hack if it's a bit rough, or you could probably make a couple of quid re-selling it on again.

I'd have it for £500, decent bikes.

Very nice bikes, they're a very solid engine and with that mileage I'd also be willing to punt 500 quid on it if you don't want it!

I remember the guy across the landing from my old flat having one of these in around 1988-1989. They are thirsty if you get heavy handed with the throttle and he said around town it was a bit of a nightmare because it would get illegal in first gear, but then there are a lot of bikes these days that will do that!
