If not why not.

Yes, leave now! :)

Battlestar Galactica, the single most amazing re-imagining of a Sci Fi series bar none.

Why?

I honestly don't understand people's fear of sci-fi programmes. Yet they would happily watch some brain-rotting soap opera.

Lack of imagination I say.

Meh.

better than Mork and Mindy?

That was also awesome but more of a comedy. And a great one at that.

But yes, by far. :p

Being of more senior years I find that books stories I read as a kid are no longer fiction but fact that we now take forgranted.
I just wonder how long before the current Sci-Fi becomes fact.

I'm 'out' as a battlestar fan, proud of it! Was confused by the Starbuck thing - what the heck was she in the end? Otherwise, it was the best acted, smartest, action packed series. Looking forward to watching it again on Saturday! I really hope others on this forum enjoyed it. Some are no doubt in the closet about sci fi, maybe they'll come out now?! :)

Don't spoil it, I have to catch up starting with series 2...I just need some time! How many series' were there in the end?

Tallguy
26-03-09, 09:14 PM
There are 4 series, not including the mini-series pilot thing. Watch 'em all!

EDIT
p.s. Sorry about possible spoiler, though it actually isn't as much of one as you might think. This'll make sense eventually!

Makes sense when they kept going on about how it had all happened before and would all happen again......

I think the robot thing was a hint of a possible future, but unless you've watched the whole thing it's kinda tricky to explain.

Guess someone needs to go down the library & rent the lot, spend a week making your eyes go square (or, to be more accurate, 16:9 widescreen!).

Just waiting for the complete boxset to come out now so I can watch em from the beginning again. I didn't stay up to download the torrent though, but I did get up early :p

:takeabow: yes i'm a sci-fi freak

Gonna miss it, but there is a special coming later in the year with the start of the war from the cylon perspective and also a spinoff coming called Caprica so its not completely gone yet..

Gonna have to make do with Heroes for my fix now

Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles is not too bad as a suppliment to Heroes

guilty as charged

as for the end ov bsg reasonable end but there were to many but why questions unanswered

Yes, lots more questions and the thing with Kara was quite simple really. What she found on that planet was what she thought it was and she was what she thought she was (no - not a cylon).

The series in fact has many religious implications, many of which are derived directly from the bible.

Remember, "I see angels"?

Yep, just finished watching it. At first I thought I had downlo......er.........rented the wrong thing though. As soon as I heard 'frak' though I relaxed. :D I thought it was a bit weird but got better towards the end. Not sure about the girl in the robot thing (a glimpse at how downloading is done by cylons even though it was the final five that designed resurrection) though but am willing to see where that goes.

There had to be an initial AI for the "body" tho the way of generating the AI is sooooooo outlandish, but hey its Sci-Fi so we can leave it at that, but this wasn't really a resurrection thing in the way you are saying.

The question left is how did "Daddy" expect the Cylon to do the test when the Firmware Upgrade had gone wrong, or was there something left to get it running and the girl was in there somewhere - ie was it her shooting up the bots, or did she only come back when the toaster woke up the slab and made the call.....

I didn't watch it when it first started to be shown on Sky because I thought the PC brigade had got involved - Starbuck a girl...Boomer a chinese girl...heresy I tell ya!

The mini series came up on Play for £5 so I took a risk...

After 20 minutes I was asking "where's the sci-fi?"...but it did get much much better.

We have bought each series on DVD as it has become available, and only watched the last series on TV.

It started really well, but went right off the boil - Coronation Street in space is how I have described it elsewhere. I know that the personal relationships make the characters, but I think too much time was spent without shooting at the cylons.

It was confusing at times and needed more action through series 3 and 4.

The 'big finale' really needed a higher body count for me - but then I am a blood-thirster bugger!

I think he was able to use her AI to create the cambat AI but he wanted his daughters conciousness. Was quite amusing at the end to see a cylon with a girls voice.

Talking of the resurrection it seems the humans almost came up with the idea during Caprica.

I've heard this phrase before and I will shoot it down once again. What made it great is that it didn't rely on space comat and geeky technobabble to be interesting. Ultimately it was about the survival of the human race, flawed as they battle with their own morality. Also the religious implications are quite interesting. My wife hates sci-fi yet she found BSG thought provoking and intelligent, which most soap opera's are not.

The obvious conclusion is that the final 5 reinvented resurrection and the human form Cylon.

After all, it makes sense - he was trying to "rebuild" his daughter - the biotech doesn't exist but the killer robot frame does - its a temporary measure.

If you look at the 1st test, the targeting software is rubbish and not AI based at all...

Was that a torrent download or on tv ? loved the series left a few unabswered questions though, for instance whar was Adama in the end ? I mean remember the exam he took where he stormed out ? eccellent drama though.
