I did quite a bit of research before getting my SV650 and everywhere I looked said that it was a great first bike. I've been on mine (with one small exception when a moped drove out in front of me) for about six weeks and it's working well. Plenty of get up and go with no nasty vices.

Keith.

Yep its a curvy... not a bad choice at all, but not a pointy. :D

**runs and hides before the abuse rains down**

Just be careful to start with - the engine braking on the 650 can surprise you. Doesn't take long to adjust to it mind.

i did research as well and everyone was telling me to gtet an sv as my first big bike so fingers crossed i will have one next week. I personally prefer the curvy ones.
it'll certainly get some use ive owned my r 125 since new which is 87 months and ive done 9200 miles :)

hey how you doing, you getting a curvy you have made an excellent choice. just so you know there is lots of banter between people who have ponities and people who have curvies. Basically curvies are 99-02 models and pointies are 02 - onwards. but we all get along :D

enjoy the org

excellent choice

I like you already :D

You are potentially a curvy owner and probably know the Peak District area quite well. (I'm easilly pleased)

There's a fair few of us that like to frequent that region, including myself. Keep your eye on the Madlanders section.

Definitely a good choice of bike, but I'm not so sure about the location - they're a bit funny up your way :p

If you've still got the 125, you're welcome to join a few of the other pennine massive lot on a trip to sunny Squires on Sunday.

well yes, but dont go changing from 3rd to 1st in a hurry, it might catch you out.

take it gentle and make sure you slow down with brakes and then change gear untill you get more used to it the you be changing down without breaks and think its normal untill you try in on a 4. I have ridden both so know the difference :D

chompy this is probably a newbie thing but i blip the throttle as well so this will help rather than say dropping from 3rd to 2nd without blipping wont it?

personally i dont think i makes a difference you dont find it so bad dropping down from say 4th to 3rd but when you drop from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st, make sure your going slow if you dropping it into 1st.

yeah it was a nice bike, untill the other day, bladdy metal barriers, but she wil be up and running again soon... next week and she is running again, just waiting for dust seal for the forks then swapping them over :D

then i have to wait a lil while for the lowers to be re sprayed.

but should be nice and new again.

you going to be turning up to the Annual Rideout

Lucas66

chompy , yea when is it and where.
Going to give mine a good going over with polish etc when i first get it . Also what exhausts wopuld you recommned so i know fo rfuture blue flkames sound really nice

chompy
27-03-09, 05:29 PM
well personally i would recomment a Scorpion can what ever style you feel suits, because of the colour of the bike i have gone with the titanium flame. But every one has different opinions, some go for Flame exhaust, beowolf. its a case of searching around for budget wise ect.

the rideout is on the 1 - 2nd of august cant remember where it is but there is a whole section about it here sv650.org 2009 annual rideout (http://forums.sv650.org/forumdisplay.php?f=162)

hope to see you there
