I have no bike... It was sold this morning :(

What next then?

I'm thinking CBR929 Fireblade :D Anyone ridden one? Or what else? Needs to be <£2k fairly nippy, and something I don't need to fight rust off all day long (i.e. probably not a suzuki ;) )

Hovis had a 929 Blade before his got his Yellow 954 blade, I thnk K had a 929 blade as well.

TBH thats what I'd be looking for or maybe a Kwak 9R or a 12R, but I dont know if that fits in your budget or what they are like rust wise...

nah, we had the older ones (none fuel injetion) 918cc i think

the 929 was the first fuel injected blade, and they looked a lot more sporty than the older ones, there were problems with the fueling (which a PCIII sorted)
but make sure its had the re-calls done, most importantly the forks......... i would go for a 954 if you could manage to find one:D
i dont think you will get a 954 for 2k, and you may stugggle to get a "tidy" 929 for that money

stretchie had a 929.......... not for very long though

i think lozzo is selling a 929

A man of great taste... I've looked at them too ;) The ZX9 looks crude up close, and the 12R I nearly bought, but decided not too as it just seems excessive. Why have a 1200cc bike tuned for peak power.

Quite liked the idea of a VFR, but the SV never hurt on long journeys, so I think a sportier bike is the way to go. Not sure how much extra oomph it would have over the SV too.

Bah, schoolboy error! I meant a cbr900 generically. You enjoy yours?

True! I ummed and ahhed about it for a while, as I love the looks of them (especially the black and gold!) but figured that I'd end up in trouble. Plus the costs of running them are obscene. £4k buys a good one, but that's two fireblades! ;)

Just noticed the avatar :p

Go on then, sell me the VFR over the CBR900 ;)

your probably looking at a 10 year old blade for under £2k

Friend of mine has the 929, and absolutely loves it. Comfy, Honda, fast, says "fireblade" on it, reliable. All the plus points of a litre(ish) sports bike, ie fast and handles but good for distance etc as well. Nice!

Yeah but you do have to live with the sub 30mpg figures. :o

929's are okay, 954's are supposed to be superior. I had a 929 for a while but my opinion of it isn't really fair as it was rather heavily upgraded to being a fairly good bike.

I reckon '98 looks about right. Why did you switch yours?

i only got it as i needed a bike for the nurburgring, as the SV was playing up, and i planned to sell it as soon as i got back, it was a bit of a nail when i picked it up, and had been standing for a few years, but only cost £700, i got it a week before the ring trip, and it did not let me down, i ended up keeping it for a year, then selling it for £1300

i just wanted a newer bike, me and my mate did it up pretty good, and it was fairly reliable (but it was'nt yellow;)) it was a bit rough, most the plastics were odd/damaged, but it did what it said on the tin.

they are pretty much bomb proof,

There are some paint schemes so awful ... I quite like them ;) Is there a model worth avoiding? Been looking at some tidy 95-96 bikes :)
