It has a cat flap and a SHED!!!!
Cat flap has got to be the clincher :)
Is it a decent size, so that you can fit thru it when drunk and lose your keys? Oh, shed as emergency backup too - quality!

I feel sorry for you guys living in the south-thats an absurd amount of money for a one bedroom flat-i don't know how you guys manage to get on the property ladder with prices like that

I used to live ina 4 bed detached house with large rear garden, space for 4 cars in the front, in a secluded, quiet and safe neighborhood culdesac and it was worth 180 grand at the beginning of last year (basically the same as now here) O.O!
Quality cat flap adds £ though.

It is, you can get a 3 bed semi for that up here, with a huge garden and a garage. But then I can't afford one of those either:(

When you say "bidding" I hope you are not paying anything like the asking price?????
Prices will drop much lower for that sort of property before there is a sustained upturn. If you look at the price of that two years ago and halve it you will be in the ballpark IMO.

Do you want to borrow a cat? I loan them out for just £20 per day for catflap testing purposes ;)

Some of us are trying, and saving, and trying, but its always a dream just out of reach. Kind of like wanting to own a ducati. Some can, but others only dream and know if they scrape the money together to get one, they wont be able to maintain it

lol!
No thanks. Got a cat. At least had a cat - my mother took it in last year when I quit my job & went travelling. The trick will be getting it back from her as she appears to have kidnapped it (catnapped?)..

That's way overpriced. I had a large three bedroom flat in Finchley, which is a much more expensive area than Lewisham. I put it on the market in 2007 and the local estate agents were valuing it at £270,000. We decided not to sell when Mrs Wyrdness got pregnant. I'm now trying to take out a new mortgage on it to buy a house outside London. The bank sent a surveyor to give them a valuation and he's said that its value for mortgage purposes is £200,000. There's another similar flat for sale in this block at the moment, and they're asking £270,000.
Current asking prices have no basis in reality. People are still asking 2007 prices and values have dropped about 20% since then. Check the land registry to see recent selling prices in that area and look at how much actual selling prices have dropped since the 2007 peak.
