What is the best method you use for judging what a bike is worth without the use of Parkers.

When contacting people offering for bikes, I don't want to seem a tight see you next tuesday which is just after a great bargin, or to insult the seller.

I'm a newbie to buying, and am happy to wait for a good deal to come up within my budget bracket, but if I can save a bit of dollar for the next beast then its a plus.

check parkers for a guide to price and have a look online at MCN or in the paper to see what prices the type of bike you are after are going for.

also don't forget to barter when you find a bike and look around cause sods law says you will buy a bike then very soon after see something cheaper and better.

Don't look at what bikes are advertised at ... look at what they SELL for. Ebay 'completed listings' search is particularly useful.
