Yoo, get the new pics up..

We still have to sort out a little weekend trip. I'd never hear the end of it if he has to tow me out with that would I?

; )

There are photos in my post but I linked them in from Facebook. Do you not have a FB account? I think that causes them not to be displayed..

EDIT: Copied them to photobucket, you should be able to see em in my previous post boy!

I thought I would resurrect this thread, seeing as my lad was itching to go out laning this morning. We went out and did 60 miles, with 40 off those on lanes. We found one that was a really challenging, steep and rough by-way. It was then I remembered the phone had a camera...

I was stood in the lane below the truck, the photo does not do justice to how steep this is, I could barely stand!

Also from below, truck getting close to tipping angle

I used to have a 1989 Range Rover Efi, it was manual not auto, but fab none the less. Pretty much killed it off road though as it was so much fun.

Great pics Mike and yes....I can fully appreciate how steep that hill was.....it's so frustrating when you look at pictures because you don;t think anyone will understand, but I do x

There was a Range Rover Vogue (Classic shape) abandoned at the bottom of the lane! Think the farmer had dumped it there, just parked in the hedge.

VT, we have crazy similar lives...lol. I've been off roading for years. I've had a Range Rover EFi 3.9 V8...but I ripped the rear bumper off, snapped an lpg tank strap and snapped the handbrake cable all on one trip in Wales, so that didn't last long. I've had a '96 Disco, an '86 land rover 90 and we now have the '98 disco.

I think you guys need to come down here for a weekend with the dogs and the Landie and we can have a weekend of off roading on Salisbury ot the MANY great lanes we have over here and walk the dogs, eat, drink.........and have fun!

Mike...that sticker is rather amusing........we don't need such things though...no point having something for non landy drivers to read when they can't even follow us over the rough stuff to be able to see it! ;-)

Sounds like a plan!!

Oh and at Billing on Saturday I saw a sticker on the back of one saying 'I dont have time to drive cr@p' lol, made me chuckle.
Also saw this...

Got the snorkel fitted ; )

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/Stretchie_/Disco/July%2009/PICT1842Medium.jpg

We did some (as they say down here) gert deep water holes yesterday. Just waiting for the other fella to get the pics online, had the wave coming up over the windscreen and over the roof at one point. I attached the recovery strops before I went into them so I didn't have to do it underwater if I didn't make it.

We have the lifted suspension sat in the garage just waiting to be fitted but not done it yet. So maybe when we need tyres next it'll be a taller profile set to get the diffs a touch higher up, but only taller, not daft big wide things.

Stretchie took me off-roading today on Salisbury in the Disco, had loads of fun & got the car properly dirty! 8) We managed to take a few short vids with my mobile, hope this works...

This was my first proper go at making a splash
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/el_saxo/offroad/th_VIDEO_005.jpg (http://s98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/el_saxo/offroad/?action=view&current=VIDEO_005.flv)

Then we came across some guys in a 90 and a 110 who were in the area for a couple of days and Stretchie offered to show them some fun muddy bits - with the added benefit it meant we could have a play and if we got stuck (which I did!) we'd have someone to tow us out... ;)

Me driving again... :driving:

Then we stopped to make some bacon butties and a brew with Stretchie's camping gear - me on chef duties :chef:

This lane is 10 minutes from my house :D Typically the Landy died about 5 yards later as it does not like water. It died every time a puddle was deeper than 6 inches :smt081

It seems hard to get a tall tyre without it being wide as well, especially if you are in the market for remoulds.

Really??? Well he's got the snorkel, but has he sealed the air box up and screwed the necessary sump plugs in? Very odd for a diesel to not like water....unless he's fitted a snorkel to a petrol which won;t do mucg good without lots of work to protect the plugs too.

Looks like you had a good time though and great to have a lane like that so close! That's going to be so much fun in the winter!

LOL bite! :smt077 Actually Rick bought that landy as is, so is still checking it over. The snorkel is correctly fitted and axle breathers have been extended to allow wading. The problem is hat its a V8 and the electrics have not been protected, so the distributor gets soaked and dies. Quick squirt of WD40 and she lives again, until the next puddle! :D Rick has now (yesterday) fabricated a tupperware cover for the distributor and other bits.

It is still funny though as the 'jap crap' V6 petrol Shogun didn't miss a beat, has more torques, less cubes... the mickey taking is particularly fierce between Jon and Rick.:D

We had a great weekend of it, laning on Saturday and Bala 4x4 play site on Sunday. Couple of photos...

The Shogun, cocking a wheel

V8 + water = Fail ;)

Rick forget to close his windscreen vents before the water...

http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs207.snc1/7420_130615998213_677353213_2641505_6608175_n.jpg

We got to some nice places to...

http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs227.snc1/7420_130615973213_677353213_2641500_2511027_n.jpg

Then at the play site, on Sunday, rick got over excited about using his winch, resulting in epic stuckness...

http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs275.snc1/10225_130096367571_591632571_2618155_2858245_n.jpg

Recovery took over an hour and involved another winch, a snatch block, the stuck landy's winch, the hi-lift and much laughing and pointing at rick :D
