Went to Southwold yesterday, on a run organised by the East anglian lot of Duke owners. Met a small group at Newmarket, then set off to the Ducati/Kwak dealership in Newton Flotsam. He opened up especially and provided free refreshments and much needed toilets. Saw a749S that would suit Mr Speirs. From there around 25 Dukes set off for a trundle over to Southwold for chips and chat.

Finished back up at Beccles MaccyD's before heading homeward bound in the company of the Tricolour 1098, 748SP, Hypermotard and GSX1400. Dodged the rain all day, although the roads had been salted, but the new PR2's never slipped once. A toal of 335 miles for that one:smt088

Sunny Southwold then?

You didn't stop for a pint of Adnams then. Still it is a nice place to go to for a day out. :riding:

But you should have had fish and chips at Aldeburgh, legendary around these parts, the queues stretch right out the two shops when they're open.

That's pretty much how we felt with our old, cheap 996!:p, e bay leathers (not colour co-ordinated) and trashy sticker kit!

Seastar is where the Kwak came from - before they lowered their standards! :p

Surprised you didn't fell the tremors as 25 Dukes fired up Skip :smt026:smt026

What made us chuckle was that the rideout was only 30 miles and was lead at a reasonable pace. Not like an EAR one then? ;)

Some lurvely bikes there but sadly no 'sedicis.

Well the chip shop on the pier was certainly sloooow, if that's what you mean BP? :D Seems the pier is the only seasidey thing about the place. Busy though.

It's even a bi-posto with the pegs and everthing. See, we are thinking of you :D

I know what you mean about the chippy Pete! Black Olive Deli on the high street is much better, bit of cheese, fresh bread, some ham, tasty butty on the prom!

Slow pace of life in some respects, http://www.slowfood.org.uk/Cms/Page/home

Was the big Suzi there as a breakdown/pillion service for when the pretty boys bikes go on fire? ;):compress:

Did see some more of the light-of-foot mob going through Glasgow city -centre last week, 1198S? Black with red frame, a yellow 748/996etc........... and a red Desmosedici. All nice and loud, so the GP bike sound was kind of lost.:(

The new duc 10/1198 has definitely grown on me after I thought it was bit uninspired looks wise after it was launched.(Its not hard to look good compared to what the Japs are coming up with!)

Awesome commitment to the rideout cause Pete 'n Lissa - doing 10 times the rideout distance just to get to and from it  :sunny:

I like going to Southwold, the wife's grandparents live in Halesworth which is not far from there so we often pop down when we go and visit. From what I hear parts of it might not be there for much longer as the coastline is eroding so fast over there. There's a house on the edge of the clifftop there that my father-in-law remembers being about 200m from the edge when he was younger.

Did you see the fountain on the pier? I like that.

Cheers,
Matt

I saw you!
We had a family trip out (but in our Discovery not on bikes) and parked out front of the amusements while you were all parked up in a very tempting domino line :)
I wondered if you would be there for some reason.
We decided on cream tea at the Swan rather than chips on the Pier (we got married there two years ago).
Call in at Beccles on the way next time and I'll tag along (if I'm back on the road).

Shame you didn't know we were there, but I'm very glad you resisted the temptation to nudge the lead "domino" bike.

Yeah we nipped to Beccles after, but I'll doubt we'll be down that way again anytime soon Rich.:(

I would have loved to have popped along to embarrass all them shiny tarts with my POS SV, but diesel fumes don't do my chest any good.
