Plug your router into your laptop/computer, open up Internet explorer and type in 192.168.2.1 (no www or HTML) and that should let you access the router set up page.

Are you wanting to use it wirelessly? Can you not do Start-Connect to-then see if it's kicking out a signal?
Sorry i'm not being much help it's years since i did mine, im sure someone far more knowledgeable will be along shortly :)

i know this sounds really condescending lol, but is your wireless switched on? 60% of the wireless support calls i get is because its turned off lol,

whats the make and model of your machine?

Okay here goes : click on the items in sequance

1, start menu > Control panal > network and internet > Network and Sharing center,

and you should see something similar to this this :

http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/1086/malaysia/windows/images/products/windowsvista/features/details/screenshot_Network_01.jpg

From there double check that the wireless light is on on your laptop
which is here: (front view)

http://support.thetechguys.com/Images/articles/{77316e12-ce62-4222-b27d-e99116e1853d}/front%20labelled.jpg

check there is a green line from each of the icons at the top.

If there isnt click on CONNECT TO A NETWORK which is located on the left hand side of the screen ( should be the second one down in the list )

which should give you this :
http://www.home-network-help.com/images/connect-to-wireless-network.jpg

choose to connect to the Belkin, it should at this point ask for the username and password.. enter the details and continue

if it doesnt let me know what it does say and we will take it further.. :)

then it says i'm connected but i'm not if you know what i mean? on your top piccy you have a "pc-then a router-then a globe" i have an "X" on the globe side.

thanks john for that, BUT this is the bit i get stuck on "The Routers setup wizard will now appear.
Select the correct options using information provided to you by your ISP."

its says this in my paper instructions too but nowhere can i find a setup wizard?

i can log into the router like it says but i cant see anywhere for my details? only SSID changes and things like that, not actual isp user names and passwords? i'll have a play later but will offline obviously, will try to get back on later to let you know if ive set fire to it or not :)

John 675
30-03-09, 06:59 PM
... hmm if all else fails your ISP might be able to help but you can manualy configure ISP settings its just a set of numbers that tells the Router where to dial too, whose your ISP?

no worries mate there always an issue if they dont come from the provider lol,
its really not as difficult as it seems, im not really a fan of Belkin for this reason. id go to PC world next time you might be able to shuffle some primative info out of the the sales monkeys there about whether its plug and play lol,

here are your Tiscali settings : everything in red is what you enter
