Ive found recently that my gear selector indicator on my dash isn't working properly? when i select neutral i just get a blank where it should read "0" as in no gear "neutral" if i turn my engine off when its on this blank then i cant start the fookin thing back up cus it thinks its in gear! i phoned streetbike and they say its a common fault :( so its booked in :(

thats a bit Carp.. my 675 does something similar you click into neutral and the selector still says first so it cuts out when you put the side stand down.. not really a massive issue mind just irritating

yep sure am :)
because he's not here ,I'll say it for him"should have got a Kwak,Neio"
I get that as well, my 750! The garage claimed to know nothing about it, "Sounds like it's the imobiliser at fault", read this as "nothing to do with us mate". Please let me know the details so i can get it fixed under warranty as well!

the dealer "streetbike" said it would be a warranty claim as its a common fault, as i was describing the problem to him over the fone he finished my description off! so they do know about it, "gear selector switch" apparently.
Cheers mate! Do you know if it's just a set-up or new part?

its a new part mate, the left hand side engine case has to be removed so he said.
Cheers! Will give my dealership a phone and see what the say.

He's right. Gear position sensor is pretty infamous for throwing a hissy fit. Watch yourself when out of warranty!!

Why have a gear indicator thing anyway? I cant say as i've ever needed to know what gear im in, you can usually know anyway once you know the bike... Bah.
Gimmick. Hope you have no more trouble lads and lasses with the Gixxer. ;)

Glad it's nothing too serious Kwak. See that's what you get for using your bike and not polishing it! :p
Not a serious problem in itself but in conjunction with the immobiliser, could leave you stranded maybe. :(
Cheer Baph! That looks interesting... Will need to keep a wee paper clip with for the next time it conks out!
675s and exup valves all over again. See, Jap bikes go wrong too:smt003

It is handy. I wasn't convinced until I got a bike with one, but now I do glance at it - especially on the track. I wouldn't fit one to a bike that didn't have one, but as a standard feature - I like it!
Actually you should fit one to your falco - it would instantly make it twice as cool! :P

Your gits...
A x 0 = 0 for all values of A...
;)
Your right on the cool front a gear indicator does = 0. So the falco would instantly go from supercool (represented as A) to totally un cool. See, I always wondered why all these modern jap bikes were so uncool. Cheers for the enlightenment!
