Restricted bike.

Restricted points too...Just because it revs over 8k, doesn't mean it cant be restricted. Or maybe, your about 40 million teeth up on the rear sprocket

EDIT: If that is a case, lemme have a go :D

the sprocket at the back is the standard one so the answer is restricted bike then....
How easy and how expensive/cheap is it to de-restrict it?
i m sorry about the luck of knowledge but this is my first bike in the UK and before UK there were no restrictions in place...

Hmm, yeah, always useful to put up type of bike and your location, a nice orger may offer some help if they know what they are doing. Could be carb washers or the official Suzuki kit I think.

Depends on whether it is a carb'd bike or fuel injected. Carbs are generally restricted with washers whereas FI bikes have a restricted ECU.

Not sure if a Y plate is curvy or pointy?

That sounds very much like my missus' bike (33bhp restricted curvy).

At 7k rpm an unrestricted bike should really be kicking into it's power band, if it's gasping a bit at that point it's very probably got a restriction kit in it. Not a big job to change it, my local garage installed the restriction kit in an hour, so I'd imagine it'd be the same in reverse?

If it's not restricted then it could be the under-tank foam gremlin

There is a little bike garage in Farlington (near Sainsburys) which I have used in the past and they are pretty good. Can't for the life of me remember what the name of the place is though.

They could remove the washers for you or maybe PM Grinch (he lives in Cosham). He has his carbs on and off all the time. He may be able to give you some pointers.

Easy enough to check.

Remove airbox, open the throttle all the way, lift the carb slide up with your finger. Shine a light and can you see a washer in the way, or all the way down into the inlet tracts?

If no washer, then remove the rear pot carb slider (remove the black plastic carb top), does the slider have a horizontal hole in it?

1 is the FI international kit. Simply pull carbs and remove washers.
2 is the suzuki 33bhp kit, you need to find some full power carb slides without the hole in them.

Mine's restricted and in some gears it'll almost (maybe it will I've not tried) redline, it just hasn't got any real useable power after 8k. Probably restricted, last time I was on the track it's only hit a ton, indicated

LOL. Even restricted on the right road you can do car's. I kept with a few nice cars on mine...

Admittedly the fastest car I kept up with on my SV down my local fun road (bypass with LOTS of roundabouts) I was de restricted and it was a Ferrari I was following. Ha ha, I caught him through the corners and out of them but about about 80(kph... of course) he started to pull away slightly :( ha ha.

I was on there yesterday actually and was teasing a car a bit and was just about to race when I got a massive waft of weed and had a look at the passenger. Obviously ****ed so didn't want to risk getting gp kiled. I've been knocked off by a stoner before - learnt my lesson.

The beamer had caught up with me about 70-75(kph) and as we got round the corner my lane of the track was completely blocked so I aborted.

Aye but did you go down it all? Its very long, and VERY fun. Edge of tyre's is soooo easy down there, you don't even realise your doing it. Best thing about being restricted is its easy to get on the power. Tis fun :D
