ok so i was goin down a straight road at 20 mph twas a 30 limit. and the van pulled into my lane and came at me, i swerve to avoid it but i seemed to be heading into the layby on my side of the road and went straight into me.... ive been told not to post details on forums etc by by insurance until case is solved etc so il post pics of bike etc when its resolved, but bike isnt healthy, front lever radiator, both fairings right footpeg. but one thing i will say is il never ride a bike without crash bungs on again... they have took a battering but if it wernt for the crash bung i wouldnt have a right leg, (not bad considering thre ment 2 stop fairings bein smashed.. but somehow i managed to come out of it without any broken bones, but on crutces for 2 wks..

Blimey, glad you're relatively ok! I guess we won't hear the details for a while, but I hope you'll be ok in the next few days when the pain starts to set in proper.
As many say all of the time, bikes can be replaced, people can't, so I'm glad the bike took the brunt of the impact and not you.
Keep us informed if you can.

Too funny!
What does that have to do with vans in general?
It's the driver you need to hate.
You might have guessed I drive a van :-)

if it wasnt a van thn it wouldnt have hurt as much??????
if it wasnt a van thn it wouldnt have hurt as much??????
sure about that? how about a nice solid car? A van makes a loud 'clang!' noise as I'm sure you know :-) but I'm not sure it would necessarily be less painful to hit a car.
I just hate being stereotyped as a van driver.
Ah well, hope you are ok.
Your post scares me. I posted in the megathread today what happened to me, and it was a near miss. Im lucky i didnt end up like you.
Get well soon, and i share your sheer hatred for vans.

Maybe it has it's advantages.

That's what I thinking :confused::confused:
if it wasnt a van thn it wouldnt have hurt as much??????
You reckon?
I was a van for a few years and not once did I drive at a bike in fact in about 7 years of van driving I've had 1 accident and that was when some muppet drove into me while I was parked!!!!!
There are quite a few people on here who take offence to the hatred of van drivers. To be honest, i think it is a fair generalisation to assume that van drivers are on the whole the worst drivers on the road. They dont indicate, they use excessive speed and i have had an extremely close call with a van yesterday.
BUT, not every van driver is bad (my dad is a good driver, and he drives a van), i have seen some perfectly fine driving from van drivers, and even some consideration. And also remember that the van drivers on this forum ride bikes themselves, so have more consideration than others.

On what information can you possibly justify a statement like that? You can say the same about bikers, BMW drivers, white van man, taxi drivers, lorry drivers, women drivers (a favourite of my dads) blah blah blah. Its a prejudice, nothing more nothing less.
I've seen bad drivers in all types of vehicles and its rarely confined to one specific type.

What a lot of carp!! So you never ever speed? You've never forgotten to indicate? SO you had a close call with a van, would you say all car drivers are the worst on the roads if it had been a close call with a car?
Tell you what I've seen some right pillocks on bikes therefore we're all anti-social cretins. How about that for a generalisation?

Indeed a bad driver is a bad driver whether they're driving a van or a Bentley
