I know that they're different and that the curvy link pipe doesn't fit on a pointy because the oil filter gets in the way but does it work the other way round?
If not, where can I find a link pipe for an Sv650 K1?

are you sure you are not describing the downpipe:confused: if the oil filter gets in the way, that bits the down pipe. A link pipe is the bit that is put in place when you chop the second half of the system off and replace it with a link pipe and a new can

Your mixed up mate -are you looking for a link pipe(used after the original system has been cut to fit an after market can)-or are you after replacement downpipes?

Ok, I'm on a PC now, I was on my phone taking a crap at work when I made this thread haha.

Basically my 2001 SV650 is fully stock and the exhaust is all one system, I know that if I want to put an aftermarket can on it I am going to have to cut it, I found a nice blueflame exhaust for cheap on ebay because it has a dent in it, it comes with a link pipe but it doesn't say what year it's for and the seller hasn't replied to my email.

Here is a picture of the exhaust:

So I understand a bit more, does the right bit of the link pipe (the bigger part) fit over my pipe from where I cut it & then does the can slip onto the left part of the link pipe?

Also, where do I cut my current system from?

I will edit this post on my phone later with a picture of what my exhaust currently looks like.

Try to ignore my finger :P

yep the right hand side part goes over your stump-measure the length of the larger bit on your link then leave that on the original system and cut remainder off from the welded seam -do a search on the site -you'll find it put more techy than what i've written

just measured a spare set-leave about 2 inches from the welded seam

Thanks man, you've been a huge help. But just in case I don't win the auction, does anyone know where I can buy the link pipe seperatly from the can? It's quite hard to find them together second hand and I'm not going to pay a silly ammount of money for them both just because it's new.

hi Kylex. there is a guy on egay selling link pipes, about £49 but i think he'll take an offer of about £47 (big saving i know). just type in 'link pipe' and all will be good.
i'm toying with putting a 'laser gp' twin pipe on my 2000 sv650 but need to source a link pipe with 55mm and 45mm ends so i reckon i'll have to have one made up
