Well, it's official. PC's are (almost) indestructible. My CPU, motherboard, HDD's and PSU suffered my anger plus 2 days outside in the rain and they are still going!

Only the GFX card (HD4870X2) and monitor (samsung 24" 1080P) was beyond repair. Trust me to break the most expensive bits!!

My new GFX card has arrived today, the standard ATI HD4870. Hopefully it will almost be as good as my X2 depsite that having 2 cores and double the GDDR5 memory.

Now, I have to remember not to be so bloody stupid again. :hackedoff::-k:D:smt054

Why dont you put up a punchbag in the house/garden/shed/frontroom for when the urge takes you again?

X2s don't come cheap :(

Got a regular HD4870 1gb in mine, runs extremely hot but they all do that and seem happy enough. Check for bios updates, initial ones dependent upon manufacturer, went out with dynamic underclocking knackered (the bit where it throttles down when only using 2D or low 3D stuff) - either memory timings were borked so it flickered like buggery or they fixed that by turning off dynamic underclocking alltogether and forced it to run at max voltage and clock all the time.

already been scouring the Argos catalogue, found one that I will attach to the wall outside so I can give it beans when I get mad.

What's the betting I get mad trying to install it?

Thanks for the info Matt, yep that's the one aI got the 1GB 4870 now. Hopefully it will still run Crysis at a decent frame rate at 1920x1220
