The other day I was riding to work around lunchtime, going up a long, straight hill, when a tractor appeared over the brow of the hill, pulling a huge trailer packed with bales of hay.

I was about three-quarters of the way up the hill, doing around 55-60mph, but I decided to slow down when a silver Ka pulled out from behind the tractor and started to overtake. The Ka obviously hadn't seen me, and it was going to be a little too close for comfort.

As I drew closer, slowing slightly, I was just debating whether to give a blast of the horn or an appropriate hand gesture when a big, black, shiny 4x4 pulled out from behind the trailer and began to overtake, even before the Ka had finished.

I performed an emergency stop close to the grass verge (textbook, up to the point where I stalled ) and the 4x4 pulled closer to the still-moving tractor as he too came to a halt.

I flipped my visor up and shouted, "What the hell?"

4x4 bloke wound his window down and said, "Sorry mate, I didn't see you."

I retorted, "Well you wouldn't, would you, overtaking over the brow of a hill!"

Obviously having had enough of my self-righteous lecture, the driver said, "Alright, I said I was sorry," and began to wind his window up again.

I had just enough time to shout, "Sorry doesn't excuse you driving like a knob," when one of the hay bales which was sticking out of the trailer a little further than the others, slowly tore off his passenger wing mirror and tossed it gently across the bonnet, on to the road.

It was a beautiful thing to witness; karma in action. If only every idiot driver got what they deserve :)

Quality. Schadenfreude derived from people who deserve it is a beautiful thing. ;)

I've had closer and come away unscathed :) TBH the tractor and the Ka had put me well on my guard, so even if the 4x4 had kept coming I was stationary and so far over I would have been fine.

I didn't think it needed it; I'm sure we both knew what I was thinking :smt082

I knew it was gonna be expensive to fix too, from the number of wires poking out. Probably electric adjuster, heater and indicator. Reckon the mirror probably cost more than my bike ;)

I had a one of these instant karma moments last week.

I was travelling through a 30 zone in the van behind an old granny and in front of her was a cattle truck about 100 yards ahead. As we left the 30 zone I had enough time to paqssw the old biddy and cattle truck in one on the straight ahead (you have to plan for these things in a van :) )

As I pulled out the berk behind me in his Mondeo pulled out too and started to pass me despite me indicating for a good 10 seconds before doing so. I had to swerve backj in to miss him and flashed my lights at him as he passed. he gave me the V's.

However, a car came round the corner ahead and he was forced to pulling behind the cattle truck that was now heading up a long hill and pouring liquid manure and wee out of the back. I was a nice 100 yards behind him and even my van was getting covered and the stench was unreal. He was stuck right behind the lorry for nearly two miles! :D

Now I had to pull off after a mile onto a road that runs parallel to the road I left and ahead was about three miles of no overtaking lines for him. :D

On reaching my destingation my van was brown and stinking so I can only imagine how bad his car was :)

Karma in action! :D
