View Full Version : fitting cams
hi all im new to minitwins and was wondering if i can fit injected cams into a carby and if so how any help would be appreciated
you can, sure way to make a few ponies :-)
Just replace the old items with new with exactly the same timing etc, be sure the follow the timing procedure to the letter else you might end up with it all timed 180 deg out, still runs but sounds different (does not make as much power).
If you can its much easier to fit the injected cam tensioners at the same time as they are much easier to work with, not essential though.

I think one mod is to fit the K3 inlet cam on the inlet side and move the curvy cam from there to the exhaust valves, longer valve opening duration
did any of that make sense?
Inlet cam on the inlet, exhaust cam on the exhaust or you're breaking the rules.

Yes but does it work ? I am doing a few road races that where that doesn't matter.

Which regulations are you racing under? Is it the official minitwins series or another club?

I do some of the "roads" and they run the twins as a direct replacement for SS400 so minitwin rules dont apply. The Irish guys call them "supertwins", they have GSXR forks, tuned motors etc. It defeats the object of the cheap racing idea but thats the way they do it, it woud be nice to have a liitle more power at the Isle of Man and the NW200 as the tuned stuff has a bigger advantage there.
