GSXR Mirrors mod on my sv1000

I thought I'd share my latest mod to the sv1000. Pretty straightforward to do with k4 4 base and standard gsxr mirror indicators. Quick to fit and seems to work ok. thx to Oggplonk for the tips

I'm in the middle of doing the same. Got the indicator mirrors, just waiting on the K4 ones. How does the indicator one detach from the mount?

If this mod gives a better position mirror its got to be worth a look as my SV mirrors are rubbish.
I can see my elbows and thats about it.

i think the stems on the gixer mirrors are longer.

first you need to remove the base of the gsxr mirrors. Remove the rubber pad and drill out the flange with a 10mm bit. It separates and fits into the k4 bracket. The wire goes over the top and threaded throught the gap inthe k4 base.

You need to drill a hole in the fairing to pass the indicator cable to connect up.

View is slightly better but I didnt have too many probs with the original as I have small elbows

what year is your bike ? mines an 08 sport. do you mean a k4 gsxr ?

mine is a k3 sv1000 but i reckon if the fairing and mirrors are the same it should be ok.
You need the brackets off a gsxr k4 mirrors ( ones without indies like sv) . They are angled slightly different to the sv ones but have the same screw hole mounts. My pic above is the mirror on the new brackets

Hey, nice mod. I'm also doing the same, just wondering how it was to wire up? i have an SV naked, and i'm putting a new fairing kit on it, so wondered how you found it to connect all the electrics?

Does it matter what K4 mirrors they are ? ie . Off a 600/750/1000 ?

Can they be run at the same time as the Side ones on the SV as well or are these instead of ?

I didnt take tto much notice of which k4 iI thought it was either a 600/ 750 but I bet they probably all the same. The base is noticebly different to the sv ones.

I have my mirrors and side indcators wired together into one of those blue plastic connecotr 2 into 1 wire things.

I need to do this, I got some K5 GSXR mirrors, but, the base obviously needs manipulating.

There is a guy in Germany on the Portal making an adaptor for the mirrors so you don't have to modify the GSXR mirrors, but, they are €100 at the moment :-o

I want to do this on my SV. Current mirrors are pants, plus the GSXR mirrors look good. You think the guy in Germany will sell the adapters cheaper soon?

He is looking for someone who will do them cheaper, I will also point out to him there may be people on here who want some too, the more who order the cheaper the parts will be, afterall Thou's and 650's share the same front subframe. I'll PM him tonight and see how it is all going with the research

I can give you a link to the ebayer seller who did me the K4 mirrors for £17, obviously the mirrors are useless but the mounts are what you need.

So I did some looking around and it seems that we have basically the 05 and later model, which has a base that seems very different, and the 04 and earlier, that seem like they will go with a little help. Is that correct?

Wow it's a push but yeah memory suggests the GSXR k4 mounts give you the correct angle for the pointy SV to enable you to use the later model GSXR indicator mirrors.

I remember reading the GSXR mirrors are angled differently and don't fit right without exchanging it out on a stock SV mirror Stock..

But this post suggests..

If I buy a set of "Stock" GSXR K4 Mirrors. the base can be directly exchanged with the 06/07 Integrated mirrors to fit the SV Fairing and be in usable order? Is this correct? Wish there was some more pictures for visual reference
