ive seen this stunning green example and a slighty rusting 09 plate example in a kinda pink colour.
It's growing on me, I have to admit!
Nicer than the naked SVs anyways... ;)

Rip the limps of plastic off the radiator, get a new can, some black mirrors, a decent paint colour and I'd have it

In those pics it look kind of ok imo.
No doubt there will be an aftermarket exhaust on offer soon & its still going to have the SV fun factor I should imagine ?
Would be better with a old fashioned round headlamp !

the BHP is up on the sv.

Really? Every magazine I've read says it's the same!

Saw one in Blue + White today at Drayton Croft in Hinckley, do like the colours together just not the bike. I'd like to test ride one though along side an SV650N
what happened to the oil cooler?
It the shiny bit behind the oil filter water cooled

Admin (john) was telling me saturday that its up 5bhp, we were saying how long would it be before someone throws a gladius engine in an sv?

it just needs those really useless pieces of plastic pulling off the sides of the radiator and It will look grand. MadJohn put up a couple of pics of his in a thread in 'bikes n issues' and TBH it looked a whole load better 8)
I actually like the looks of them, they kinda grow on you after a while, but then I've seen two now, one with red, one with blue.

I quiet like it, yes power is up, but then so is weight, so comes out about the same, mine you I'd probably start off with a base black one

I also don't like the huge exhaust hanger/pillion pegs
I like them, but i wouldnt buy one. Better bikes on the market for not much more money.
BTW is that Streetbikes near brum?

oh yeah forgot the pipe really sounds ghey. It sounds like a 125, its worse than an SV stock.
The only thing I'd reallly be worried about is how long the pump pipes last in and out of the filter so close to the road. I'm sure(may be mistaken) that they go directly to oil filter, which is peculiar, and expensive for filters(if my eyes didn't decieve me)...oh and the seat lock being flung full of sh!te off the road, as the back end sends crap up your back in the rain. I have ridden behind MCN Liam and taken much note of this :-)
But as I said, I actually find them quite appealing.

As said, the black one would be a base to start from and then I'd mod it to suit me, so what's different :smt102 , I did the same with a brand new SVS when I got it.
Cheers Mark.

Don't like those pieces of plastic next to the radiator but otherwise it's a neat looking bike. Seen it in the flesh and it's quite nice to be honest, having said that, even the b-king grew on me when i saw it so my opinion is no longer valid on anything.

There was one outside the local Suzuki/Yam dealer.. It is definatly quite a nice looking beast in the flesh. Stick a nice stubby twin outlet can on it, probably a carbon fibre one, and it'd just look the biz!

In that Green/black colour it looks good in the metal. A&D in Denbigh have one on demo.
I have to agree about removing those pointless bits on the side of the rad.
'Challenging' looks... Id like it more if there was less plastic, but its perhaps not as ugly as i first thought.

I thought the green/black looked really tacky myself, the place I visited also had a red/white, which I thought looked better -although the red was a little too close to pink for my liking. I'd have to get a black all over one too.

still don't like it, looks like it has been sat next to a fire and the plastics have started to melt. according to the tests the rear wheel power output is the same.

if i owned one id cut the ridiculously long rearsets in half!(get rid of the pillion peg/extension) would open up the back end a bit
oh and would have to be black!

I like them, but i wouldnt buy one. Better bikes on the market for not much more money.
Which has been the one significant argument against buying an SV650 from the day they came out in '99.
This is no different and thousands of people have bought an SV650. Suzuki know what they're doing with the SV, (which is precisely what the new bike is whatever piqued SV owners might think), as they've built excellent sales in this market sector and they know full well they can neither damage that or afford to stand still when other makers are eying the SVs sales numbers.
FWIW I like it, I looked at one in the flesh about ten days ago - much better than in the pics. Only reservation for me is the colour schemes, but then people buy race rep 'Blades etc, which I think look dreadful. Different strokes etc.
oh yeah forgot the pipe really sounds ghey. It sounds like a 125, its worse than an SV stock.
That's new Euro emissions and noise regs - coming to every new bike near you soon.

Nothing unusual, filter is the standard item, the hoses are water pipework from the cooling system which is used to cool the oil as well in a heat exchanger at the base of the filter fitting - common now and has been for about ten years or so, usually behind a fairing so not well known though.

"...copying the Italian's tubular steel trellis was probably seen as too plagiaristic...."
"instead of going with Ducati's style of using tubular steel trellis, Suzuki went instead for an aluminium trellis frame" (2002 SV New Buyers Guide)
With the design of the Gladius it appears that Suzuki have done a u-turn turn and given the thumbs up to plagiarism.

Saw one in Fowlers the other week, I thought it was quite nice, but then a little while later I was in Abergavenny and saw one with what I can only describe as 'Pink highlights' and it looked 'orrid
I kinda like the look of them, its just the paint schemes that let them down IMHO. Now if were in all matt black

right, whos up for a challenge?
there are a talented bunch of photographers on ere and surely theres one amongst you who can use computer graphics wizardry to mount a pointy fairing on the front of the gladys.
interesting to see and compare.

I think the body styling would suit a curvy fairing better, a full fairing preferably to hide as much of the original as possible.

If anyones interested you can get a GPR slip on, which apparently gives 3-5bhp gain, depending whether you get the de-cat pipe as well. Cans are about £320 and the de-cat pipe is about £140, and it saves 4KG, apparently. :D
Sorry if it's been posted before. :)

It's even uglier than my Versys, and that's saying something.
The Versys is yummy looking
I do like them, looks like an artists gone to work on it...
I can't see it being a practical bike though :/ thinking it'd be hard to keep tidy...
I saw one at Lloyd Cooper and it doesn't look as bad as in the photos but it's still not a handsome bike mainly due to the colour schemes. Also the budget bits such as the swingarm and brakes make it look so incredibly cheap, even compared to the ER6.
just seems that suzuki are trying to copy the er-6 tbh

IMO
The green and black version would look better if all black as the green is a horrible colour.
The red and white doesn't look too good again cause of the red colour.
The blue and white is probably the best looking one with the blue frame.

you know my gixer fits you well shellywoozle :) i think when you ride her your going to be going to the bank for a loan :)
the cast section of the frame makes me feel ill.
the can looks like the designer sneezed when he was drawing it.
how many more bikes are gna start (badly) copying the mv brutale headlight?
new downpipe looks cool tho

Not to be pickie but what cast section. It's Steel frame welded together. I wont argue about the exhaust. It is pig ugly, That's why I took mine off.
i mean at the back where the pillion pegs are. thats gotta be a casting surely?
the tubular steel is cool, like a duke

when I was sat on Madjohns Galdius at the Easter egg ride out, I was grining as I did like it as the riding possition felt comfortable.
My sv hurts my wrists after 4-5 hours riding. might need to get renthal bars on it.

The prize for biggest use of imagination goes to mart.
Seriously, there's a dozen bikes you could use to prove that Gladius is far from original but a Gilera DNA?
sorry but the overall shape just reminds me of the dna. the headlight unit the tank the 5 spoke wheels the seat unit the number plate holder thingy (not on the one shown) the tubular frame gives it the empty engine to front wheel gap that the dna has and even that exhaust looks like the scooters. but thats just my opinion.
sinbad in you opinion which bike would you choose??
It's like an amalgamation of most of the existing bikes in that class, borrows most heavily from Monster and Shiver though imo, which is no bad thing I should add.
if it looked remotely like any of those bikes i would probably buy one myself but no this thing just doesn't fit right.

There's only so much different a "conventional everymans bike" can look like....
TBH the best looking 600ish CC normal persons bike is the ER6n. IMO. Monster is fine if you are a bit more experienced and can afford it!
