[Random Accent]Is a question I always be asking many times. When into the house I be coming, my grandmere always be telling me "Take off your jacket, or no benefit you be getting when outside in the cold" so I many times wonder, the sheeps in the field, they cannot be taking their clothes off in hot days, like the ones we have back home, so no benefit they can get from the jacket when it is cold times....surely is not fair on the sheeps?
One more. Do the sheeps get alopecia?
Discuss.

The plural of sheep is sheep, not "sheeps"
Lots of sheep in a field.
I counted 12 sheep, and ate one sheep for dinner.
Sheep!
Dan aka the sheep pedant.

You clearly did not understand the [random accent] thing.
I am not stupid. I am well aware that the plural of sheep is infact sheep.
You post does not answer my question.

They look a bit more like goats than sheep.....
They look a bit more like goats than sheep.....
How can you tell if you're looking at a goat or a sheep? If a male has the familiar beard, or goatee, then he's probably a goat; male sheep don't have beards. Another hint is the horns: a male sheep's horns usually curl and a goat's are straight. But, of course, there are exceptions.

Back to the question at hand...
The simplest way to explain it from my understanding is for example:
Outdoor working dogs generally tend to have thicker more wirey fur. There's an under-layer of soft fluffy fur (as with most animal's winter coats) and the upper layer of coarser wirey fur that is some protection from rain/cold. The combination acts as a sort of insulation. Birds have a similar setup with the fluffy feathers underneath and the tougher feathers on top. Humans don't have this.
Years and YEARS ago when I was a kid in Canada, we had a school trip to a place that showed us how wool was taken from the sheep and turned into what we use. Wasn't a big factory setup... anyhoo, the upshot is, sheep wool in it's base form is coated in a waxy substance called flaxen or something I think. Its pretty waterproof. I'd guess at the thickness sheep's wool grows it's also pretty windproof.
So, there's a useful answer. Can I lock this thread now? :p
