Before the forum police get angry, I have searched and found nothing! (apart from people saying use the search facility.)
I decided to perform the R6 throttle tube mod to my K3 SV1000. The reason I want to do it is I want to be able to open the throttle fully in one action from a comfortable start position despite my wrist not bending that far. I am fully aware of the otherwise total lack of any benefit to this mod.
OK. disclaimer out of the way time to ask the question.
I go into Yamaha dealership and ask for a tube for a 99-03 R6 as per the many threads. Tube arrives but different part number to the one mentioned in the threads.
recommended part number :- 5SL-26240-01
My part number :- 5EB-26240-01
When I phoned back to check, the parts counter bloke told me that the part number has been superseded but it's the right one.
The problem is that the many threads on the subject talk about trimming off the excess material either side of the locating holes for the cable ends. This tube actually has less land than to one currently fitted to the bike.
Before I go trashing bits of original and new bits of bike, anyone know if this tube will actually work?
Have Yamaha made the mod easier by pre-trimming the housing?
Is the parts bloke fobbing me off with the supercession story as he knows it's going onto a different bike?
Attached is a picture of the tube currently on the bike and another of the new one. New one is in it's bag so not amazing picture but still shows what I'm talking about.
Anyone tried it with this new part number?
Ta,
Mark
